ID Theft Alert Sent To Me..I'm Confused and Worried

This alert was sent to me at 4:47am this morning...I checked and couldn't find anything related to this

alert on myFICO. Then I went about my day and it got pushed back to 2nd page of emails and I just remembered it

so I didn't get to call myFICO today.

The first line is in big bold red letters in the email itself.

Is this a false alert or should I be concerned ?

"Dear XXXX

New information has been detected in your identity information.

Go to your alerts and check this recent activity for ID theft.

If you need further assistance, please contact help@myfico.com.

From the myFICO® team"

Was this a Scorewatch or TU Quarterly Monitoring report?

I'd certainly call first thing in the morning. And you can pull a report now if you don't want to wait.

That's another thing..it never said if it was SW or TU quarterly so I checked both and

I don't see anything different unless I'm missing something.

I don't see anything under the alerts tab either.

I only get 2 reports from SW and 1 every quarter with TU and don't want to waste a report pull. I also checked/pulled my EX and EQ

reports from EX and EQ that I have and don't see anything related to ID theft ..just my new card apps reporting.

It could be something really innocuous, like one of your new accounts is reporting the wrong address, so it's flagging some alert somewhere. The timing is certainly interesting, that you got this message at about the time that new accounts would be showing up on your reports.

The alert sounds like it was from the TU product, as it is more geared to identity theft than is Scorewatch.

Don't know your time zone, but here's the times for CS:

I'll call tomorrow..only one card posted a few days ago with correct info and it was before the alert..the other's are

the inquiries for the app's that haven't posted yet.

Well I called and it was about a new phone number detected..yes it's my home number and it's at least 15 years old...one

of the other service reports that I use didn't have it listed until all my recent activity the last 2 weeks.

The thing is I already noticed this alert which TU quarterly already posted

it to my alerts on Nov 2nd and I got the email alert on Nov 9th...that's 7 days later.

The guy I spoke with (I'll leave the name out ) was very polite and performed his job by looking it up

for me was great. But when I explained this alert is 7 days late nothing was said.

I never got an answer why the alert that was sent to me was so old

when I asked...It's not his fault he has no control over things of this nature so I just let it go when he didn't / couldn't reply.

He did his job and shouldn't take the heat....It's myFICO that needs to get things together.

Still happpy with the service ..I just hope this isn't the norm...(week old alerts )

I'm told the delay was the result of a problem processing the weekly file received from the company that provides the data for these alerts. You should expect to receive future alerts on time. But let us know if you don't.
