Agree with daisyduke, send a GW letter to try removing the CA.

FICO scoring sees a collection as a collection.

It doesn't matter whether it paid or not,so no points gained.

But don't get me wrong, paying a collection is good for peace of mind...the Ca is not calling,

no treat from further legal action, and always looks good on a manual review.

Do you know what your FICO scores were, at the time citibank declined you?

CCC's decline credit for many reasons, you may find out, you may not.

Many years ago, Citibank declined me for having a paid CA on my CR,

dont know if that is still their policy.

Also some CCC's will blacklist if a customer, that has done them wrong in the past.

I've read in recent threads, were some as had good luck with Asset Acceptance accepting

GW letters. So Good Luck to you

I paid asset acceptance in 03/2007. In 0723/2008 I applied for a Citibank card and was declined. My current Equifax credit report shows a status code of 120+ days late for the AA account for 08/2008. That is the only status code at all for the asset acceptance account since it was paid a long time ago.

Am I just being paranoid or does that seem like a strange coincidence? Neither the Citibank inquiry nor the late payment with asset acceptance show up on my Transunion or Experian reports.

Is it possible that the inquiry would somehow trigger some type of communication between Asset Acceptance and Equifax?

Maybe I've just been staring at my credit reports for too long and am starting to imagine things.

Chris

Hi Chris

It is highly possible that your Citibank inquiry was not on Equifax but maybe TU or EX. It is also possible that the inquiry could have fallen off early, since you are somewhat close to the two year period of the inquiry dropping anyway.

Also, CA's sometimes do not use all three credit bureaus, sometimes they will post just on one credit report, but not all three, or sometimes two out of the three and then again, sometimes they do post on all three. It varies.

The only option you have for Asset collection is to good will them to get it removed from whatever report they are posting.

If I were you, I would order my credit reports, all three of them and look through all three of the reports.
