If you use the HIPAA process,it has to be following in a certain order, for it to work.

IMO, I would try sending a GW letter to all the addresses you have, in hopes to find

someone who will help you.

Good luck to you.

Ok, so I have a collections on both EX and EQ from Central Financial Control aka Syndicated Office Systems.

I went to the hospital in September 2007 due to a slip and fall accident that left me with a broken arm, I was admitted and the copay was $100.00, the bill was sent o my lawyer instead of me because litigation insued as a result of the fall.

When I tried to explain this to the CSR for the company (before I knew not to talk to CA) she told me that a PFD was totally out of the question. So I did some research and found that Central Financial Control and Syndicated Office Systems are in fact the same collections agency and they are owned and operated by the hospital. If you call the hospital's billing department you are actually talking to them. So I went to my lawyer to ask for the initial documentation for the $100.00 in the hopes of writing them a check for the amount (now $112 with interest). I got the paperwork and sent in the payment to the actual hospital, I didn't send it in to the address that is listed for the CO which is California. It has only been three days and when I checked my bank account today the check was cashed. I'm waiting for the reciept or some form of documentation to come in the mail.

My question is, when it does, what angle should I play on this.

I know a GW won't work because the CA is actually the billing department for the hospital (Hahnemann Hospital), this is definitely the last year for SOL (4 years in PA) Everytime I dispute with the CRA's they verify. What should my next steps be to get a deletion instead of the standard PIF? Can I leverage the fact that I paid the OC since the check was written out to and cashed by the hospital instead of he CA? Should I DV the CA? Or should I try Disputing with the CRA's (EX flat out told me they wouldn't reinvestigate again unless new paperwork is submitted supporting my claim, funny his is the only CRA that won't delete TU and EQ just took it off without a fight)

This is one of the last two lone soldiers on my credit, I have come from low 500's up to low 600's in only two months. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Not a leper, simply someone who asked a question overnight! The answer about this that I've most seen is that there isn't a lot you can do since you talked to the CA and it's a medical claim - otherwise, once the balance is showing $0, apparently you'd want to send a pre-HIPAA letter to the CRAs and follow the HIPAA letter process. This board doesn't link to it anymore because of some nonsense that went down a year ago or whatever, but google "HIPAA letter" and perhaps "why chat" if you want to look through that. Apparently, talking to the CA waives your HIPAA rights but I guess you could try it anyway. The other option is to GW - who is reporting on your CRs? The CA? The hospital? Both?

Oh Mauve!

I thought I really was a leper, thanks for riding your cutie pie horse into my post!

Amazingly the OC has never reported its just the CA, but remember they're both the same company Hehnemann Hospital in PA owns Central Financial Control/Syndicated Office Systems so if I GW the hospital billing department, essentially I'm GW the CA.

Odd isn't it?

I was able to get a bankruptcy off my cr but can't seem to find a way around this medical collection! I got it off of TU and EQ but EX basicaly told me they wouldn't reopen the investigation unless i had some new proof. Since they told me this, do you think I could still do the HIPPA process?

I'm in a similar boat, and I don't know yet! I sent PFDs to the CAs before I found out about the HIPAA process (I have like 7 medicals on my report), and now I've paid the OC for 3 of them so far...they have not yet updated the balance to $0. I'm trying to figure out what to do. It was suggested I send a pre-HIPAA letter once the balances report as $0 (the OC said they'd update the CA that it was "paid", didn't seem to understand my request for deletion instead of "paid"), but that suggestion was made to a question that did not include the detail that I had contacted the CAs. Misstep or not, I'm glad those are paid.

Thanks Lightnin!

I hear ya Mauve, no matter what the outcome is, at least its paid!!!!! Feels darn good doesn't it?

I think I'll try a one two punch and GW the OC while sending a DV to the CA, I found out the name of the CO for the hospital so I'm going to try to GW him as soon as I fugure out the email exchange for the employees of th hospital nd dv the CA in order to get them to update the balance to $0 a little quicker.

In your case, it seems like they aren't going to request the deletion and instead request balance update so IMO I would wait until the balance updates and start the HIPPA process , you never know. Some people on here have only had to proceed until step 3 and the CRA's remove so it may not be that long of a struggle for you.How long ago did you pay?
