OC charged off but no CA??

This is a weird situation:

I had an account with Continental Finance (theives!) opened in 03/2007. DOFD was 01/2008. The account was charged off and sold but there is no CA reporting. The only account reporting is from the OC with a $0 balance. What should I do about this? I know that the balance was never paid, but I don't even know where to begin to try and pay it. Thanks.

Well then , you'll just have to wait and see what crawls out of the wood works and try to collect.

I would call the OC and find out who they sold the debt to. The debt is still out there, and may be running up additional claims for accruing interest.

The CA who purchased the debt is not required to post to your CR, but until they do, you have no way to address the debt. That is not fair. You cannot even DV them under FDCPA 809(b) until you have a name and contact address.

I see no good reason why the OC would refuse to provide you that information.

Well, I contacted the OC and received the information for the CA...but is there anything I can do to get the OC off my CR or should I just leave it alone and let it age off.

Also, now that I have the CA information, should I DV?

If the account is still within SOL, it is not advisable to DV unless you can PIF. Reason being is, you DV them and you cannot PIF, they could sue you.
