Goodwill letter - put entire account # or just ending

I am sending a goodwill letter to an active credit card for late payments from 2 years ago. I am going to put my account # on there but am not sure if they need the entire card # or if I can do "account # ending XXXX" I don't want anyone to intercept my credit card #. Any response would be great.

Hello! I sent a GW Letter to a closed acct on a credit card from 6 years ago. I only included the acct # but left the last 4 digits as XXXX. Mainly because that is all that was on my credit report. I did include my whole name including my maiden name as well as previous & current address. They deleted my baddies! I didn't feel comfortable including my SSN or full acct # on the letter for the same reasons. GL!

With your name, and a partial account number, they should have more than enough information to look up your account.

I would X out everything except the last 4 numbers.
