Comcast Issue

I mentioned this before on the board but I was a forgetful little girl and now Comcast and its CA want 1050. Now a huge hunk of that is for their cable boxes. I moved, put the boxes in my trunk with the intention of dropping them off on my way to my new destination state. Well, I forgot them in my trunk so they wound up in NY with me and have been there since. ( I am ashamed to say how long).

So, I finally shipped them their boxes back today. I sent them UPS so it is going to be tracked. I dont think Comcast is going to ship them back to me. So at this point as of Wednesday they will have their equipment back and they should not be charging me for it (I hope).

So do I :

A. Call Comcast for them to take the account back from the CA, readjust the bill and pay the rest

B. Wait about a month and DV the CA.

What should be my next step to get the CA off my account ?

Wait...until you have received conformation...that the received the boxes...how long has it been???...if it's that long...do you think they still will accept them...or do they even use the same boxes...how did you know where to send them to???...after conformation...I would call them...talk about adjustment...explain to them you you moved...just like a GW letter...explain your situation...pay the remaining balance...and see if they will pull out of collections...most utility companies...assign their debts to a CA...not sell...so you might have a better chance...is Comcast...and the CA reporting???...

I left in 2006, I believe they are using the same boxes. I am hoping they accept them. I am hoping that they think its too much energy and $$ to send them back to me!!! But they have to sign for it and open the box to know whether they want to accept them or not right LOL. I sent them to the equipment return location for my old area. Im eyeballing the tracking and then I guess I will call about 2-3 weeks after to see if my adjusted final bill will be sent. i hope that works.

Its a long long long shot, but at this point what other recourse do I have? If they dont accept them then I can try to PFD the CA for a less amount.

Okay so Comcast got the boxes and they were signed for. So I just have to wait and make sure they dont come back. I'll wait a couple weeks then call Comcast and start the battle from there!

Update... So here's the deal. I called Comcast and she says that she only has an amount written off for the final bill amount. I asked her what amount she has there and it onlly showed the final bill amount. So I told her that the CA had a larger amount (the amount including the charges for the boxes). So I asked if i could pay that to Comcast directly and she said yes I can.

Sooo.... If I pay Comcast their final bill directly what do I do with and how do I deal with the CA. Should I/Can I PFD Comcast?

When you DV a CA do they go by what they bought your account for or do they reverify with the OC?

I ask because Im thinking if I pay or PFD Comcast and then DV the CA they will have no info or account and have to remove all info. Would that work? I dont wanna call the CA.

You should ask Comcast...if you PIF...will they pull the account out of collections???...usually utility bills are not sold to CAs...they are just assigned to collect on it....
