not sure where to start.

I am in my twenties and I have no credit score according to my fico. I had excellent credit as a teenager, I had 2 credit cards with a 500 and 2000 limit always paid on time until my father in my parents divorce maxed them out and never made a payment. I eventually in 08 was able to do a settlement to one and paid the other card off. So since summer of 08 I have had nothing in my name. I am an authorized user on one of my moms cards it is not reporting for me however so I have 3 negatives on my report 2 credit cards scheduled to fall off in 3 years according to my credit report and 1 paid medical collection from 07. This is the only information listed on my credit report nothing else. we are also cleaning up my husbands credit so he doesn't really have anything to add me too. so my question is how do I start trying to get a credit history again. I have tried to get a USAA credit card but was denied due to lack of credit history. not sure what cards would work for me since I don't have a credit history? any help would be appreciated!

You had your own card when you were a teen or were you an Authorized User? I didnt think you could have your own card under the age of 18. You could have a card issued but you were still an AU.

I had a 500 limit credit card from our credit union when i was 17 my mom signed for me to get it but no it was in mine name. I was only a few months from 18. the other one i got at 19.

So how did you father run up the balances if he wasnt on the card(s)?

Have you pulled your scores from here, myFICO? Also have you pulled your reports for free from www.annualcreditreport.com ?

he most definitely WAS NOT on my card. but he lies and cheats all the time. He was a great con man. i really am not sure how he used all of it 500 i knew about it was a car repair the rest he just "stole". during my parents divorce he agreed to pay the cards but in the end he refused. and at almost 20 i didnt have the money to take him to court. so that is all water under the bridge and i havent spoken to him in about 3 years. i just really want help on how to rebuild a good history yes tried to pull scores from here i get an error report saying you must have an open acount with 6 months of history to have a myfico score. i have pulled reports from annual credit report .com 6 months ago and 12 months ago only 3 negatives listed no positive or open items. i did get one asset collection off 14 months ago i paid 50% balance of $125 and they deleted.
