Hello there!! I need some help forum! I disputed a few items on my CR with Equifax online and it has been 31 days now and I haven't received a response back! I thought they had only 30 days to investigate and respond? Can I now send a letter requesting that they delete all disputed information due to their non response? Please help!

If you disputed thru annualcreditreport.com it can take up to 45days for results.

If you dispute online with EQ,you have to go back to EQ web site to view current online disputes.

Thanks for the info. I disputed with EQ and when I check my status online it reads " There are no pending disputes". But that is incorrect! I even have my confirmation number to prove it. So I gave them a call, and the rep says that it may take up to 40 days?? Is this correct? Can't I request that they delete the information now because it has surpassed the 30 day investigation period?

40days is not correct. The FCRA 611 states the CRA has 30days, from the date they received the dispute.

To conduct a reasonable reinvestigation to determine whether the disputed information is inaccurate and record the current status of the disputed information,or delete the item from your CR.

ETA: Unless you used a conformation number from the Free CR thru annualcreditreport.com, then it could take up to 45days.

Was your online dispute actually through Equifax, or did you have to go through CSC? If your Equifax report is handled by CSC, all of their responses are by snail mail, even if your dispute was online. In my experience with CSC, their investigation often isn't complete until the very last day. Then, it takes a week or two for the hard copy to actually show up in the mail.

What ended up happening here?

I'm in a similar situation and looking for answers. I too filed a dispute through Equifax online on a credit report that I know is in their hands and not CSC. I filed the dispute from a paid credit report obtained from Equifax's credit monitoring and reporting services. The status is still pending after 43 days. I've written a letter specifically pointing to what equifax's website says and what the FCRA says regarding dispute timelines, demanding that they remove the disputed entry because they have lapsed their 30 days, not sent notice of a 15-day extension, and the status is still pending. I am waiting until Monday (day 47) to send the letter certified mail because I want to cross over the 45 day threshold just to be safe. Also attached to the letter is the email confirmation from initiating the dispute and a screenshot of the dispute status page showing "pending" as of today.

Did they end up removing the item from you? Did I sufficiently cover all bases? I've been looking all over the place for answers. It seems like they're obligated to just remove it at this point.

The 30-days sets the period from the date of your dispute for them to conclude their reinvestigation. They have an additional 5 days from that date to send you written notice of the results. FCRA 611(a)(6)(A). That, plus mail time, makes it a bit premature to begin any assertions of non-compliance at 31 days.
