Goodwill Letters...

Good Evening All....I am new to this forum, although I have been reading many posts over the last couple of weeks..What a great site. I am trying to remove some 30 day late payments from my credit reports in hopes of increasing my scores and have come across some very well written letters throughout different threads, but I am curious - who should I send the goodwill letter's attention to?, ie: research department, Billing, etc... Thank you!

and one more thing - is it better and more productive to email the goodwill letter, or send regular mail? or both?

I have seen successes with mail and email.

Send it to the top dog in the company if you can.

Okay, Thanks!....But...at the risk of sounding like an idiot...how do I go about finding out those names? Simple internet searches? Top dog as in the CEO? Would they care about stuff like that?

Yes, you can do an internet search.

You can start at the bottom and if they say no, keep going up the chain. I have seen many posts where the CEO and VP have granted GW requests.

I didn't save any of them, but rather viewed them all to get an idea of what I want to say (kinda incorporate a little bit of each letter into one) but I will be working on them in the next few days..if you would like, I can certainly send you a template of it once its completed

Hi, I have tried several different approaches to the GW letters. There are plenty of examples of GW's out there, both in the forums as well as elsewhere (do some googling). This will get you started on the general format but in the end you will need to modify the bulk of the letter to describe your specific situation.

As far as recipients go, just do some research on the companies you're sending to. Go to the company website, click around to find out who the CEO/VP/whoever is, and use them. You can usually find this information in the 'about us' link, or if nothing else you can go to the 'investor relations' and look at annual reports. Those will generally have the names of the corporate leadership.

Hi - you can search from them and will find many. My success w/ GW letters came from being authentic and truthful about what happened, accountable that it was my fault, and ingratiating to whoever reads it. The more personalized the better, IMO.
