OMG !! Six tough years of rebuilding FINALLY MADE IT!!!

The short of it is, I started about 6 years ago in the 500's with approximately 54 lates in all. Had a Cap1 CO and a Wells Fargo 90 day that wouldn't go away. I decided to dispute again for the last time on TU, and today I got an e-mail that my dispute was complete. I logged onto TU and found this:

Capital One: DELETED

Wells Fargo: UPDATED

I was stunned. Couldn't believe what I was seeing. Had to sit and stare at it for a while. Cap1 is gone from my TU report. Wells Fargo was changed from 90 days late to paid as agreed, under the "Satisfactory Accounts" heading. I have no derogatory information remaining on my report. Still couldn't believe it. I logged off TU and onto MyFico. Pulled my TU:

Your TransUnion FICO® score: 769

On October 14, 2011

Still in utter disbelief. Both accounts were scheduled to fall off next year around Feb-Apr. All I have to do is work on utilization. We are getting ready to buy a new house hopefully next spring. I can't say enough good things about this community and all of the good things the people do here. I have probably spent over a thousand hours or so reading, loitering, looking for things I could do, hoping and praying a lot too. I feel forever in debt to this site, and all of you who contribute selflessly their time, effort, and encouragement to me and others looking to better themselves. Congrats, guydiver! You are indeed an inspiration! Would you be willing to share any tips as to how you were able to have the late payments removed? I have tried disputing, but it seems that the CRAs (at least, Experian) allow only ONE dispute, prohibiting any future appeals once the "investigation" is closed.
(I am new to this forum, so please forgive my cluelessness!)

HHi ComradeSasha, and welcome to the forums. My case is definitely not unique. I had so many lates over a three month period back in 2005, it was hard to keep up. I had a charge off from Cap1 that never reported correctly, there were 30,60,90 days reported, followed by several months of "paid as agreed", then the CO. I paid it in full, then they placed a second CO notation on my reports and updated to that month. It was deleted by the CA, but not by Cap1. They always verified when I disputed. I could never get my DOFD consistent over the three CRA's. I wrote GW letters, always got denied. Basically gave up on them. My last dispute was 11/10. My Wells Fargo was actually a RP/RF on my reports, major baddie. After some back and forth with them, it was reduced to a 90 day....so I let it ride. I never disputed any of my credit union baddies, it just all fell off by itself last month. Sallie Mae fell off a year early after I disputed it on-line last year. A couple weeks ago I decided to dispute Wells Fargo mortgage on TU because it always showed 0-0-0 under late payments for the past seven years.....but the account was listed under non-satisfactory accounts or whatever they are called. It would just say "worst delinquency" of 90 days. EQ never reported this one, and EX was basically the same as TU. Figured I would at least get them to report to verify the month and year of the lates. Instead, it appears instead that they just updated to paid as agreed, and my TU now shows no lates at all. The Cap1 CO just disappeared. I disputed both at the same time on=line on TU only. It looks like EQ and EX picked up the disputes because they are all three reporting as Consumer disputes this account. I just e=mailed Wells Fargo to ask them to delete the dispute comments, because the account is not factoring into my score because of the dispute comments. It is my second oldest account, so I need it to report now that it is in good standing. That's about it. You can PM me if you need more help. Regards....guydiver.

Yes, it was a credit card. They charged it off for $800 and change(tons of late fees,over limit fees etc...), the limit was $500, and I paid it off without knowing any better. The CA deleted, but Cap1 would not delete after several GW letters, but I never escalated up to anyone. I was able to get to 700+ even with it on there, just waited to have it fall off. In your case, I would skip the generic GW letters and go up the ladder. Do some research and try to get a backdoor e-mail. Not sure if it will do any good, if they won't delete a paid CO, then who knows. You can do a search on here for Cap1 and there are a ton of posts. I have seen some recent success though. Maybe they are softening up a little! Mine was due to fall off next Feb. or April depending on the CRA, so maybe they figured it was time to drop it. If your SOL has expired, then you don't really have anything to lose. Write and e-mail everyone you can. No guts no glory. Good luck to you.

Yeah, but that's with 38% util., and my mortgage not reporting due to dispute status still attached. 800 here I come.
