That is a bit chinzy, but not improper.

A debt collector has the right to report the fact that they have, or had, collection authority. In reporting a paid collection, they would have to simultaneously report the collection and that the collection is now for a $0 balance. Debt collectors usually report collections as a hammer over the consumer. I dont see them gaining anything by reporting a collection on a $0 balance debt, but neither the FCRA nor the FDCPA require reporting simultaneous with the date of occurence of an adverse event.

Perhaps they were just pieved that you pulled the payment out from under them.

Hello Everyone,

Access Receivable (CA) placed a paid collection status on my credit report when I paid the OC before the CA put it on my TU report. Any advise? How can I get this removed, because I paid the OC before the CA had a chance to put it on my TU report.

Please experts!
