Sent a request to AMEX to delete & they did

Last week I sent AMEX a handwritten letter asking if they could please delete a TL from my credit report since it was old & I am currently trying to rebuild my credit. Today I got a letter in the mail saying that they will delete it from the Big 3 bureaus. I wouldn't even call the letter a goodwill letter. I just told them it was settled a few years back & that I was in the process of rebuilding my credit. I actually didn't even think it would work, but I figured since I was sending a lot of letters out that day, that I would give it a shot.

Congratulations! I too sent a GW letter to them and they removed my trade line as well. AMEX rocks!

I filed BK back in 2009 and included them does this mean if I was to ask they would delete this from my credit file or are you talking about something different?

I am not sure in a BK case, but yes, this means they will delete the whole account from the credit file.

reposting my reply from another thread here as this thread seems to have more traffic and I've got a related question:

I recently had something similar happen with Amex. I had a corporate Amex charge off in 2005 (that I disputed unsuccessfuly for a couple of years.) Since I just paid the balance in 2009 to try to make it go away, I wasn't sure if I'd re-set my 7 year reporting term, so I called a couple of weeks ago to ask about when it was scheduled to drop off - in 2012, or 2016. I was put through to the credit bureau and after asking some basic verification questions, the CSR stated that he was deleting the account entirely - and sure enough, it dropped off all 3 credit reports to the tune of a 27 point socre increase. (this was my very last baddie that I've been waiting to see expire.) Despite my rabid curiosity, I decided it wasn't worth probing further for an explanation as to why exactly he was deleting it, lest he realize he was making an error of some sort - so I cheerfully and thankfully dropped off the line.

My question now is - with a score now approaching 800 and the Amex issue deleted from my CR - will I get approved for a personal Amex, or will this fall under the blacklist umbrella?

sorry - no letter to share (the ones I used to dispute never worked). I just called in to make an inquiry, they transferred me to their Credit Bureau Department, and everything happened on the call. I sent multiple dispute/delete letters 2-3 years ago which all failed to achieve the desired result.

I have an account that was CO and now has been PIF. I also just obtained an Optima through the Amex oasis program. Will the new card from Amex writes over the CO on the three credit bureaus? Does any knows. If not, could someone PM me the contact information for Amex. I need to request that the CO be taken off my r,credit eports.

I seem to recall others posting that their own CO accounts turned positive after they paid and entered the Oasis program. You might want to peek at your credit reports to see if this is the case ~ it would be good for your FICO score to have an old positive account showing.
