Recorder of deeds?

Hi all,

I have a question regarding an entry on my credit report... Under "bankruptcy and court judgements" I have one dated 8/9/2006 that is listed as state tax lien. EX is reporting Multnomah County Records and TU is reporting Recorder of Deeds. EQ is not reporting at all. My question is, isn't "Recorder of Deeds" something to do with real estate? If so, this is bogus because I have never owned real estate. Should I call the courthouse and inquire about this judgement? Thanks

It could be a tax lien for unpaid state or local income taxes; or maybe propery taxes. If you really have no idea what this is, I would call the county and see what they say.

Ok, Thanks pizzadude, I'll give them a call today. I can pay this off now but I can't for the life of me remember getting served on this if it's for state taxes. Aren't they suppose to serve you properly? I live in Oregon by the way.

You wouldn't be served papers on a lien in the same way that you be served would for a subpoena or court action. Laws will vary by state, but they may or may not have sent you a letter about it. And if it is a case of mistaken identity then that might explain why you never were notified.
