I recieved a response back from them via email stating :

"Thank you for taking the time to contact Kohl's in regard to the negative reporting on your Credit Bureau Report. I understand that your credit report is very important to you and can understand how frustrating this must be for you.

I have forwarded your request to the proper department. They will review your account and mail you a letter with their determination. We are unable to provide this information via email. It may take a few weeks for the letter to arrive. I apologize for any inconvenience you may experience as a result of the timeframe it takes to review your account."

I tried a couple of weeks ago via phone call but got that dreaded letter in the mail saying they determined that it would only be fair to report accurately.

Does this reply sound like I'll get another rejection? .... Geez!

Amazon, I understand your desire to get the baddie removed.

But the credit reporting guidelines issued by the CRAs, and acceptted by anyone reporting to them, has one very clear provision.

Prior credit reporting, if correct, should not be deleted based on later payment of the debt.

Some creditors will choose to ignore those guidelines, if you show compelling reasons, but they are well within their right to just summarily dismiss any GW deletion.

Yeah, it sounds like a rejection of your prior GW request..

It is fair to their reporting requirements.

if you choose to pursue this, you need to offer a compelling reason why it is in their corporate interest to grant this deletion in exchange for their desire to keep you as a customer.

Pleading of prior credit woes is, in my opinion, not a compelling reason for asking for GW deletion. It only paints you into the corner of admitting to being a future payment risk. Emphasize how your current financial status is different from when the derogs occured, and your sincere desire to do business with them as your primary future creditor.

In short, dont emphasize your woes, emphasize your strength.

Thanks Robert. This is my only baddie other than a released tax lien that was filed in the same time period as the Kohl's late. It was a bad time for me to say the least, but nothing else!

It's not my major card and as a retail card, I never carry balances on it. I can only reiterate to them that I am a loyal Kohl's customer and haven't had any hiccups since then.

I understand that they are serviced by chase. My mortgage holder even for refinances, I have chosen them, never late. I have a chase card which is my major card with them, never late. Maybe I could te those into my next GW?

GW letters are ultimately, of course, for YOIUR benefit. But you are sending it to a capitalist. Money in their pocket, not tissues to you.

So I said I'd post with the outcome and the GW letter to kohls.

I sent this letter 2 times, again, each a week apart. The second time to an executive. Just got of the phone with an exec assistant. They agreed to delete the 30 day late.

Dear Mr Sir:

I have been a Kohl?s customer since 2008 and during that time, I have
enjoyed my experience with Kohl's greatly. Knowing that Kohl's cards are
issued through Chase Bank USA, I would also like to express my pleasure
with my current Chase credit card and my Chase mortgage and subsequent
Chase refinance.

I am writing to see if you would be willing to make a "goodwill"
adjustment to your reporting to the three credit agencies regarding the
above referenced account. I have one late payment on this account that
dates back to June 2009. Since that time I have been an exceptional
customer paying every month on time or carrying a $0 balance and have
never been delinquent on any of my other credit accounts.

I received your previous response to my request for a goodwill adjustment
to removing the 30 day late payment. I humbly ask you to reconsider your
response. I acknowledge that this was clearly my oversight in my payment
plan at that time. Because of my exceptional payment history over the last
year, I would like you to consider removing the negative payment from my
credit report. I fully understand the importance of financial
responsibility and have taken every step possible to maintain a good
relationship with my creditors.

I hope that Kohl's and Chase are willing to work with me on erasing this
mark from my credit reports so that we may continue our long business
relationship. I look forward to your reply.

Are you still looking for a contact for a GW at Kohls? I had success going straight to the top with a goodwill letter to the CEO of Kohls. He handed it over to someone else who had it deleted about a week later. Not sure if we can post names and contact info here, but PM me and I'll be happy to share if you still need the info.

Can you please provide me the contact info, and a sample mail/email? I am in a bad need to request Kohls to take out a 30 day delay. This is the only delay in my credit report, but that is badly impacting my house hunt . I did not know how to use PM facility here, so posting a reply. TU in advance.

I may be able to explain what goes on and some how's and why's....and depending on what happened. I can tell you if we even can fix it for you...I'm also happy to try help others..I actually work in risk management/collections for them...just plz don't get upset at me. I don't make the guidlines...I just got saved from being out of work last year to a good paying job for KOHLS...pays for my roof if you know what I mean. Please let me help. I am kinda new to this "form" stuff. But if you can tell me somemore details plz?

I guess the folks that are requesting for information here have different issues.

I had a late payment in Oct 2010. This was for my first "Statement" from Kohls, and the email with statement got routed to the Junk folder in my mailbox. I believe it is because they were using a funky "from" address at that time. By the time I remembered that I did not get a statement and signed into the Kohls site to pay for my purchase I was already 30 days late.

This is the only negative thing in my otherwise clean credit report. I am looking to have this cleaned. Can you tell me if that is possible? The form we are talking about here is the "Goodwill letter" that is sent out to the organizations asking for removal of late payments.. fyi.

All - I am in the same boat with one late payment in 2010 as I was out of the country and missed the payment. Can you send me the email / contact info on where to mail the GW letter as well as the info you might've used
