I received a letter from the above company offering to settle a debt in two payment of $121 with first payment within 30 days or settle the account for 50% in one payment for $93. They are collecting on behalf of DirecTV. I called First National and the rep said to send the money to them in Sparks, NV, however, their letter says make the check payable to DirecTV with a DirectTV address in Phoenix, AZ. I believe this debt is an error with the cable company since 2010 and have written letters to them before. I have all three of my credit reports and this debt does not appear.

Any thoughts?

I wouldn't recommend calling any CA. Their word is never their bond. I would mail them a DV letter though. Very likely DirectTV owns the debt and they assigned it to FNCB to collect. So send a DV and wait. At the same time, call DirectTV and ask for the last couple of bills so they can demonstrate the balance owed. If the CA verifies and you agree with DirectTV, then you can modify a PFD letter with a gist of "I'll pay $x in exchange for not reporting". You're not there yet, but something to think about.
