Can someone critique my letter that I'm about to send off to Toyota Financial Services? Also, should I send it regular mail or do certified w/ confirmation? Do you guys think that adding in that I was a former employee of a Toyota dealership is too much/inapporpriate? Thanks!

"Toyota Financial Services

Credit Dispute Research Team

PO Box 9786

Cedar Rapids, IA 52409

RE: Account Number xxxxxxx

To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing this letter in regards to the late payments that I made to Toyota Financial Services on the above account, which is now paid in full. I would like to know if Toyota Financial Services would be willing to make a goodwill gesture by adjusting payments that were previously made late, and report it as such to all three credit reporting bureaus.

I am truly sorry for making my payments late. As a former employee of a Toyota Dealership in Braintree, MA, I was affected by the recession and lost my job days before Christmas 2008. Fortunately enough I had some funds saved to make payments until March. However a string of late payments soon followed. This continued until I was able to find a steady job, and access to my retirement funds to bring my accounts current.

I have traded in my Avalon and purchased a more affordable Corolla, and this account is now paid in full. In my lifetime, my family has had 6 Toyotas, and we will continue this trend as our Toyotas has been nothing but reliable and dependable to us.

Right now I am trying to pick up the pieces from where I left off three years ago when all this started. I wish to accomplish the dream of owning a house in the next year. However, with my FICO score so low due to past wrongs, I will have trouble getting approved for a mortgage. I would greatly appreciate it if you help me achieve this dream removing the late payments. Even if you are not able to do so, I thank you for taking the time to read this letter, and I will continue to be a loyal customer and recommend your brand in future.

Sincerely,

SwiftTone"

I don't know about the part of adding in the "mortgage situation". Then again, it's a GW, not a PFD and it's in PFD letters that I routinely see others advise not to include it.

is this your first attempt at GW? I'm shocked that as a former Toyota employee, Toyota's not giving you a break here at GW.

I figure I'd just add something to give the goodwill a purpose. Also, I don't own a toyota right now. Should I remove both things from the letter?

It's my first attempt other than calling in and asking for a goodwill where they told me that I had to write in. I was in sales for a dealership so I wasn't a direct Toyota employee. I debated if I should include that I am a former employee of a Toyota dealership. I don't want them to think I am expecting preferential treatment, but I really am lol

They are probably just calling to let you know the status of the GW jesture. It'll be fine - go ahead and buck up and if you don't like what they are saying you can always hang up and say you were disconnected LOL! C'mon SwifTone, hoping the best for you, make the call.
Thanks for the additional info. I haven't called yet guys and gals. Honestly, I wouldn't even know who to ask/talk to. If they are calling about my letter, it'd probably be one of the owners. Problem is, there are 3 owners. I'm gonna wait a day hoping they will call back. If they don't I'll call back. How should I find out who I should talk to.... I mean, if they were calling me about my letter, I don't think they would call to tell me that they are not going to fulfill my request right?

I haven't called yet guys and gals. Honestly, I wouldn't even know who to ask/talk to. If they are calling about my letter, it'd probably be one of the owners. Problem is, there are 3 owners. I'm gonna wait a day hoping they will call back. If they don't I'll call back. How should I find out who I should talk to.... I mean, if they were calling me about my letter, I don't think they would call to tell me that they are not going to fulfill my request right?

Swift Tone, you sent the letter to the TFS - corporate ofc right? If so, I don't understand why your old Toyota (local dealer) would be calling you unless they are calling about an oil change or some sort of service reason for your car. Did you try the 800# that I posted earlier? They should be able to tell you the status of your GW request.

Right, I sent the letter to Toyota Corporate. And the number that called earlier was the number registered to my old employer, who is a local dealership. I really don't know why they would call me either, as they haven't called me about oil changes for atleast 7 months, if not more. I haven't called the number yet. I sent the letter last Thursday/Friday. It's only been like 1 business day.Maybe the corporate contacted the local dealership to confirm my employment, and the dealership wanted to deliver the good news for the GW???

I tried for over 2 years to GW TFS, no luck - similar letters used, and at this point doesn't hurt my score so, I gave up.

I would guess tha the two things are not connected (the letter and the call from the local dealer).

Brian

I just called and they had no status update. I asked if they note on the account when they received it, he said yes, but there are no notes of that either. He said to call back tomorrow or Monday.

Will update when I hear anything

Did you specifically ask for a goodwill request to remove the late marker? I don't understand why they would say that the acct is reporting accurate and blah blah blah, the accuracy of the account wasn't an issue - correct? You were simply asking for a goodwill / courtesy removal of a 30 or 60 day late marker. I would try again and ask if they can ask dispute team to remove the marker as presently reporting as a courtesy. I'm shocked that they are not willing to help you, like I said before, I really didn't have a problem with them other than they kept a 60 day late and removed the 30day. :-(

Do you think I should call for that request or just send another letter for the request. In the letter, I wasn't disputing the fact I was late. I just wanted to get a GW removal of those late payments.
