I just received via FAX a hand written letter on CA letterhead stating:

"Per our conversation if the above accounts are paid in full by 7-31-08 we will request for this to be deleted from the credit bureau report

Thank-you"

And then it is signed (first and last name).

Does this look acceptable? The dollar amount is just over $900. If so, via what means do I pay it? As you can see, they only give me a couple of days to pay. The rep. I talked to gave me a line about how all offers have to be closed out by the end of the month, so that is why she can only extend the offer through the 31st. I'm a bit skeptical about this claim, but I would like to get these accounts deleted from my CR, I believe there are a total of 6 entries.

Congrats. Looks fine by me.

I'd pay via certified check or MO. If due by the 31st (tomorrow) I would overnight it via USPS.

What give you pause or concern?

And which CA is it?

The CA is OAC. For some reason I was expecting something a bit more formal.

Now that I've had a chance to do some reading on this board I'm wondering if I'm going about this the wrong way. ALL of the accounts are medical. I've just read some of the posts concerning medical collections and they seem to indicate that I should be dealing with the original creditor. I've found the "how-to" posts to be a bit difficult to follow. I'm certain the debts are valid, I've verified them against statements from my insurance provider. In most cases they weren't billed correctly to insurance -- if they had been billed correctly they would have been paid 100%. I tried working with the billing clerks at the time and they basically did nothing. I'm to the point now where I'm tired of dealing with this and just want them off my credit report. I've looked at the entries on my CR and there isn't doesn't appear to me there is any prohibited information there.

What should I do? Just get the $9xx to the CA or start over and contact the medical service providers?

Well, these accounts weren't deleted from my CR. They are now listed as "Paid", not deleted. What do I do now?
