I wouldn't volunteer that things are tight right now, and that you want to move. I'd also leave out that the home is expensive. Your lender probably doesn't want to hear that. I would GW the lates though and highlight in less than a sentence that the situation from 2011 to March 2012 was only temporary and that everything is OK now.

How does this look?

To Whom It May Concern,

I’ve been a Guaranty Bank mortgage holder for many years, and have been a grateful and satisfied customer the entire time. I’m writing today hoping you’ll consider a goodwill adjustment in your reporting to the three credit agencies. I have thirteen 30-day-delinquent payments from March, 2011- March, 2012, on the above accounts that I’m asking you please consider removing.

In 2009 my family returned from a four year overseas tour and we found our dream home. Shortly after moving in my work situation changed and I wasn’t offered as much overtime as I had when I was approved for the loan. Very soon we fell behind. After borrowing from my 401k we were able to get back on track. Things seemed to get better until February, 2011 when my company lost our contract and I needed to find a new position. I had to relocate to Virginia by myself while my wife and kids remained in our home in Massachusetts. I even deployed to Afghanistan for six months in order to earn extra money.

We have borrowed from all sources to try to keep up with our payments. The house is just too expensive for us now and we would like to move on. We worked with Mr. edited in the loss mitigation department to create a repayment plan which we were able to stick to. Unfortunately we are suffering once again. We have the opportunity to sell our dream home, to another family that considers this their dream home.

I realize I’m asking for a lot here, but I believe it’s worth asking; I want to move on to new phases in life where a clean credit report is necessary. We cannot even qualify to rent an apartment that is more affordable for us because of this blemish on our credit.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for considering my request; I look forward to your reply.

Sincerely,
