AFNI deleted for me!

Yay..I couldn't resist. I said I wasn't going to check my scores again till September, but everytime I log in here, it's just sitting there in my face *buy today's scores*..so I did. I feel great. I had emailed AFNI and asked them to delete an account from my report that I had paid, and they did! Wow...my scores have gone up,too!

Do you mind if I asked how quickly AFNI deleted after you emailed them?

I'm asking because they agreed to delete for me, but its still on my credit reports, been two weeks. I've heard success stories of them deleting within days. grrr AFNI, Inc.

I never have any luck!

Come to think of it, you sent your email off around the same time I did around Aug 1st. I'm a little heated right now what is taking it so long to update?

I guess some peoples credit reports get updated alot quicker then others.

They deleted for me too!!!! But the way I grilled them in that email and fax they had no choice but to cave

Well, I can tell you that AFNI hasn't sent me a letter in about 6 months regarding this account. They weren't calling me or anything. Once we decided that we wanted to buy a house, I looked at my credit report, saw their info, and called them to make a payment. After that, I found myfico and sent the GW email....so I didn't do a PFD with them. Maybe that makes a difference, I don't know....just thought I'd share.

i paid my AFNI account off about a year ago way before I knew about myfico.com, and I actually settled for less.

Maybe there is a hold up on my credit reports for some reason. I do have some disputes going on with TU and EQ for completely different accounts, maybe my reports will update after these disputes are finished, but I don't see how my reports still can't update even during an investigation, especially if the investigations are on completely different accounts.

I'm bummed.

Congrats! That's awesome.

If only Portfolio would do the same. Let's see how the latest DV goes after them non-suiting my case in court. I hired one of the top consumer attorneys in the country, and they quickly decided not to attempt to seize my assets.

I don't know about them going soft, lol! But I had to deal with them to set up payments to close a debt and they were actually really nice on the phone and once I set payment dates they promised not to call and harrass unless I missed the payment dates. The only time I ever heard from them after that was when I called them or the letter they sent me that my account was satisfied. Considering some of the other agencies I've dealt with, Afni was pretty good to me. That's right, I said it... a collection agency was nice to me! LOL

BTW... doesn't it normally take some time for the item to come off your credit report? They can send the request to delete, but I think the CRAs can take a while to actually DO it. I've been checking obsessively for a Cap1 to fall off that is supposed to come off 8/08 and so far no luck although Cap1 says it's no longer reported.

If AFNI is on your report, then try a GW. Paid or unpaid, the damage to your score is the same.

Per CapOne, why would they delete? CRTP? PFD? In my experience, EX and EQ tends to delete first and TU lags by up to a few days. The deletion request comes from the OC/CA for non-CRTP issues. Some only update every month or so. I don't know about CapOne too much, but they would always update in the beginning of the month for DW. I just had AFNI promise to delete yesterday and today they are off EX and EQ. YMMV.
