Time for a comeback!

Starting Score: EX ??? EQ 433 TU 464 on 1/25/13
Current Score: EX 612 EQ 562 TU 569 on 8/5/13

So December 2011 - Credit scores were all over 720

I made the move from California to Colorado for a cheaper living as well as a great job last week of December 2011. First week of January, company I made the move for sells and I am out of a job. Flash forward 10 months...Finally find another job..Forever everything went to hell in my credit.

Low and behold - I crashed all the way down to TU 464 and EQ- 433!

With no income, I was scrounging to find anything to try and pay bills. Knowing what would kill me the most is to get the car reported. So I made sure to get that payment done at least enough so it wouldn't be a closed account.

So here is my situation as of December 2012:

Cap1 Card 1 (Used to HSBC) - $1471 C/O - Written off - Sent PFD of $1200 on 1/24/13

- This is my last account left to pay. Sent a 2nd PFD 8/6/13.

Cap1 Card 2 (used to be HSBC) - $440 Written Off - Sent PFD of $200 on 1/24/13 - Now sent to Cavalry Portfolio for collections. Will send PFD on 2/11/13

- Collection was paid. Sending GW to Cap1 weekly.

Cap1 Card 3 - $758 C/O - Written off - Sent PFD of $500 on 1/24/13 Paid $758 to close account. No PFD accepted. Time for GW letters now PIF.

- Collection was paid. Sending GW to Cap1 weekly.

Cap1 Card 4 - $1,026 C/O - Written off - Sent PFD of $750 on 1/24/13 Paid $500 off account. Will pay off next month.

-Collection was paid. Sending GW to Cap1 weekly.

Cap1 Card 5 (Best Buy Card) - $3,328 - Written Off - Sent PFD of $2,000 on 1/24/13

Collection was paid. Sending GW to Cap1 weekly.

Amazon - $232 - Written off - Sent PFD of $50 on 1/24/13. Now sent to Portfolio for collections. Going to have to try and get removed. Will send PFD on 2/11/13

Collection was paid. Sending GW to Amazon.

Shell/Citi - $326 - C/O - Written Off - Sent PFD of $250 on 1/24/13 - Settled less then full. Pays as agrees but still have lates and $0 balance. Sent GW to remove lates on 2/11/13. Still sending GW to Shell.

Lates include:

Chase Auto - 3 - 30 day and 2 60. Sent GW via snail mail and email on 1/23/13 - Still sending GW like crazy. Have 3 new addresses I am going to send to 8/6/13.

SallieMae - 180 for 6 months - Paid up all late and past due amounts and now up to date. Sent GW via snail mail and email on 1/23/13. First Response and denial 2/4/13. Still sending and they continue to send me the same response. I feel that someone will give and it wont be me!

Collections:

City of SD - $116.00 - NO CLUE what this is for. Filled a dispute through all 3 CBs.

Credit Management - $59. - Time Warner. This is incorrect as I paid this off and sent back the cable modem prior to collections. - Removed.

LA Water and Power department - $113 - - Filled a dispute 1/25/2013 - REMOVED 2/4/12

NEW Collections

Portfolio Recovery - $236 from Amazon card - Will send PFD in the amount of $75 on Feb. 11 2013. REMOVED

Progressive Insurance - $131. Sent proof showing paid on due date and hope to have this drop off. REMOVED

Cavalry Portfolio - $448 - Will send PFD of $250 on 2/11/13. Was HSBC #2 card. REMOVED

Any suggestions one what I can do from here to help improve? Another secured card? Increase the CLI on my current secured card?

Sent out the majority of the the PFD's today. No money sent, just the letter to say I will pay if deleted. Hope to hear back from them soon.

I will keep everyone posted. The only reason I moved to Denver was for the opportunity to buy a home instead of a $1600 bedroom in LA.

Instead, I got the shaft on a job...but its time to correct it. Luckily i've got $10K to pay it off.

Again, I'll keep you all posted on what I get accpeted!

With a better credit score; I've got 2 goals.

1. $7,000 ring for my amazing girlfriend.
2. Home for the two of us.

Did the already agree to the PFDs or are you hoping the just take your money and delete your accounts????

I think you may have just lost your leverage...how did you word your letters."....Please accept my payment of x and by accepting this payment will constitute that you are agreeing to the terms of this notice..." or something like that?

Here is the wording I used:

"I am willing to pay $1200 as settlement for this debt in return for your agreement to remove all information regarding this debt from the credit reporting agencies within ten calendar days of payment. If you agree to the terms, I will send certified payment in the amount of $1200 payable to Capital One in exchange to have all information related to this debt removed from all of my credit files."

I don't know how that takes away my leverage. I'm offering 95% of the account in a one time payment.

1/25/2013. EQ - 433

1/27/2013. Alert - EQ went up to 444 by the addition of a collection.

Looks like one of my Cap1 cards has been turned over. So the PFD I sent to them could cause some issues. If Cap1 accepts the PFD, I would have to send a DV to the collection company after they process everything.

Should hear back from Chase and Sallie Mae reagarding the GW's today.

Update:

Heard back from Sallie Mae. I sent 4 emails to different addresses and this addy was the one that worked.

One of the advocates left me a voicemail today with her asking me to call her back. They had left for the day but I left her a nice message stating I was returning her call. Hopefully Monday I can connect with her and they can delete the lates. At least I am getting somewhere.

UPDATE:

Sallie Mae was not a positive phone call. She stated that it is illigal to remove the late information. Any advice???

I also received a letter from Citi/Shell in regards to my GW to remove from my settled balance with them. The letter asked if I quested what was reported to them and to send a message back. I will type up another GW and resend with their letter. Nothing back from Cap1 which has a number of my COs. Hope to hear from them this week.

EQ score Watch did go up again today. Now at 463 from 433 in just 10 days. Guess that is only from my car loan showing a lower balance since a positive payment was posted.

Well a couple items have now gone to collections. So it looks like double work on them. Updated on the OP.

With my 5 accounts that have been CO with Cap1, I did email a very straight to the point email as follows to the exec office.

"I have mailed the 5 attached messages to your company and have not heard back. I will send certified payment in the amounts listed within the letters totaling $4,650 payable to Capital One in exchange to have all information related to these debts removed from all of my credit files."

I did get a phone call Friday afternoon which I missed due to traveling and will call them back on Monday. Hopefully they will agree to PFD since I am offering to pay a good sum of the debt.

Will update after I speak with them tomorrow.

Updated with progress.

I did get a $500 US Bank Secured card in Jan. 2013 which has reported monthly at a $0 balance. This has helped a ton.

Did you ever get any success with Capital One? They have been a tough nut to crack for myself.

No go on Cap1 still. Those accounts were apart of my 17 letters I sent off again today. They are going to become a habit to send out every other Monday to get them to remove.

I feel your pain with Cap1, they are the only ones left really with a 90+ and they have denied me by mail twice already in < 30 days. I feel if i can get this one off my back i'd shoot up 50+ points
