My First Credit Battle Success

So I am new to manging my credit - I just dedicated myself to start impriving both my credit and credit attitude this week after some neglect.

I had an old checking account on all 3 reports that was charged off with about a $100 balance since 2011.

Mid last year I paid the $100 in full and was told they would update records with the bureaus. I called about a month later and confirmed the account was paid in full (should have got in writing). Well, instead of them doing this - it has shown as charged off since with a new balance of $200. Upon calling them they told me there was an "extra" $100 fee now and they would not update the information until I paid the fee. I fought many people, supervisors, and managers at the bank with absolutely no luck.

Well this week - I tracked down the CEO of the entire bank's email down and sent him a straightforward email about what had happened. Within an hour I got a response from him with the following:

"We have removed all negative entries to all three credit reporting agencies as well as waive the fees associated with your checking account. If there is anything else you would require in regards to your account, I will make myself available to you."

Pretty excited even though it's probably not a huge deal as it was a small account - but it is semi-current (some agencies even showed it as a current charge off). I am excited to see how much this effects my credit score..

A negative account is a negative account, no matter how large or small.

Now that you've had your first success, it makes you want to do more and more!

Yes,

They said they have already input the changes with all 3 bureaus - so I await to see if and when my ScoreWatch alerts me of a new change to my score..

I am curious as to what changes they are going to make...

They said they would delete all negative items..Well it is a checking account and not a line of credit - will they remove the entry completely?

It looks like they reported to the bureaus since May 2009 and it was all green until November 2011-April 2012 where it is "CO"

Maybe they are just going to delete the "CO" entries and then my negative charge off account would turn into a postive one that might boost my score?

I just had my second big success so I decided to post here instead of making a second post.

I paid one of my credit cards off, had a $300 limit and was at 90% utilization most of the life (but always paid on time).

I just paid it off and closed the account (since it had an annual fee and I have plenty of available credit)

I just got an alert from myFico and my score went up from 609 to 648!! 39 points!!

Is this normal? This seems a lot for paying off and closing one $300 account - but I am not complaning and it just motivating me to pay the balances down on my other cards even more!

Thanks guys - I am exCited! are these results typical? I also paid a 800 Card down to 100 - am curious to see if an equivalent increase will happen when it posts. Do you think so?

Also,

In regards to the account that was in collection that I got them to "remove all negative TLs". The company executive said they have already made the changes (on 2/8) yet I have not had a score watch alert show any updates yet - is this something to be conerend of? I am also waiting for my tax refund that went right to cc bills, paid off over $1400 in debt about two weeks ago and nothing has posted yet

You should see a bump. However, it is still dependent on other things on your CR and other factors included in scoring.

Sometimes it can take 30 - 90 days to be updated with the CRAs.

Up another 10 points! I opened a new line of credit for my business and my score went up 10 points.. Suprised me a little bit..

What frustrates me, is within one day of opening the credit - it showed up on my report. Yet a couple of huge payments I made 20 days ago that should have a huge impact on my credit still have not posted. Same company too - Capital One..
