Dispute for deletion

Hello Guys, so I settled a Capital One account in Jan but it got reported on TU and EX as a CO in Feb,is it time to dispute via mail with Payment receipts as evidence???

Was it a charge off before you did the settlement? was it a full settlement? settled for less?

They can report it and it is reporting correctly.

A charge-off is an internal accounting measure that requires the account be delinquent, and that they have basis for concluding that the debt has become uncollectible.

If they did the accounting measure prior to satisfactiion of the delinquent debt, it was, from what has been provided, a proper business act. Reporting of that action is unrelated to the ultimate payment or non-payment of the debt, and is not precluded from being reported or required to be deleted based on its reporting date.

I do not see a basis for dispute of accuracy of their having taken a charge-off, or of inaccuracy of their reporting based on when they chose to report it.

I settled this account in January, but in Feb they still reported to the Credit bureaus that I still owed them...

Just a couple of posts above I asked and you said it was reporting as paid, settled, CO.

Yes Guiness ghastly what shows on my EQ report, but on TU&EX it shows as CO for the month of Feb even though I paid them in Jan...

They must update to now show paid, $0 balance. If it reports again with a balance, you can dispute, but they can simply correct the status and balance without deletion.

The CO itself stands on its own, and thus would not be part of the dispute of accuracy of current status or balance.

To dispute accuracy of the CO would require knowledge of their accounting ledger, showing they did the CO itself after the debt was satisfied.
