This can happen if:

The balances on one or more of your credit accounts decreased. In general, less debt is better for your score.

The credit limit on one or more of your credit accounts increased. Larger credit limits tend to help your FICO® scores if your balances remain the same.

Negative information on your credit report, such as a bankruptcy, collection, or record of a late payment, was removed because it was more than 7 years old (or 10 years old in the case of a bankruptcy).

Negative information on your credit report is not harming your FICO® score as much as before because it is now older.

i got a message yesterday from sw that my cs went from 664 to 684. i was a little unclear as to the reason since this was the first message i have received from them. i did a few things on my cr so not sure which affected it. 1st paid my one & only cc down to 8% and i sent cmrrr to all 3 cb's with copies of paid tax liens and advised of a debt that was past the 7r mark. got rr's from all 3 cb's now (just got the last yesterday). tu sent a letter that said they had finished their investigation and had deleted the tax liens and the debt from old cc (premier) said "no longer reported". I am curious if the raise in cs was due to the cc payment since i don't think the tax liens could have reported yet. i am hoping it will raise even more once that is reported with all 3 cb's but tu is the only one that has sent a letter so far.

I don't believe that the score change is taking into account your decreased util. The reason is because it says that there were no change reported. If your CC balance had changed, then changes would been reported.

From my experience, when an account is removed, it has given that same response. So, it appears something has been completely removed.

Yes, this is a change in your report, but not a change that SW checks for.

Do you have a monitoring service where you can update your reports daily, such as Chase ID Protection or TC?

You have multiple accounts showing missed payments or derogatory descriptions.

Changes to your credit report
So, it appears something has been completely removed.

Yes, this is a change in your report, but not a change that SW checks for.

Do you have a monitoring service where you can update your reports daily, such as Chase ID Protection or TC?

helpmeplzinokc wrote:

sidewinder wrote:

Log in to SW

Click on the "Credit Alerts" tab

Look for the alert and the date for the alert will be a clickable link, click it

It should list reasons for the score change.

thanks sidewinder. i did as you instructed and it listed the following:

Your FICO® score has gone up to 684 on August 15, 2008.

Interest rate alert: Your new score of 684 may qualify you for a new interest rate of .
Rate as of August 19, 2008 for a hloan . See interest rates for all FICO® scores.

Your FICO score may have gone up because the following factor is not hurting your FICO score as much as before:

You have multiple accounts showing missed payments or derogatory descriptions.

Changes to your credit report

Your FICO® score went up on a day when there were no credit alerts on your Equifax Credit Report™.

Past negative credit behavior, like missing payments or defaulting on loans, are offset over time by more recent history of credit responsibility.

it reads to me as if it has made all corrections from the cmrrr letters to 3 cb's i.e. deleted paid tax liens, deleted old acct after 7 years, and paid down my cc to 9% util. i was hoping all that would bring it up more than 20 points. your thoughts?

SW seems to offer a lot of detailed info. Do they do this every time your report changes? Does anyone know if Chase identity Protection does the same? I would like any type of feedback I can get.

I have both TC and Chase ID Protection. I was able to get TC for only 9.95 a month. I am fixing to cancel Chase because it is hard to read their layout. TC, IMO, is much easier to read.
