Hi all! When I first made an effort to become aware of my credit in February I checked my score only to be blown away that I had a sad score of 602 and TWO baddies. Both were medical bills from when I was in college and the bills were being sent to my parents, as they paid all our insurance bills etc. Both were small ($25 & $147) so I paid them both off and requested a deletion from the collection agencies (CAC Corp & Berks) and issued a dispute with the CRA's. I never heard back from then until today when I checked my score - both were gone and my FICO score jumped up to 694! Hey, it's a start!

My other question is, I got approved for my first(!!) small limit ($300) card with Cap1 at the end of February and it hasn't started reporting yet, even though it has been used & paid for. When should I expect this to start reporting? I have never been late on a student loan or car payment and am trying to now build up revolving credit history... when is a good time for me to apply for another card and with who?

Thanks for any feedback you can give me!

for me Cap1 instantly showed "open" on my report without account number and was not reporting for like 4-6 weeks. looks to me yours should be coming this month. when is the statement cut date? if just about now it will only be a few days...

Nope, Cap1 was my first one, and I'm thankful they approved me so I could get started but I would like to have an idea of where I should go from here. I have my student loans through NelNet and auto loan through PenFed but neither seem to be doing much of boosting my score since they aren't revolving accounts.

My Grandfather, Greatgrandfather, etc are all military and/or veteran status. My uncle is also Marines, and now works for PenFed. I've had access to PenFed & USAA accounts for awhile, so I'm assuming I could probably qualify for a regular banking account at NFCU.

You might want to look at them....you can do a search here on the forums about NFCU and how great they are.

They proved it to me!!!!

They are good about giving credit to people with limited or low credit. I am sure with your scores you would have no problem.

USAA is really good for helping those of us with Credit down low. I just got an AMEX with a generous amount of credit to be on the lower side of the FICO scores.
