I got my 1st Credit Card

Applied yesterday for a Visa Rewards with NFCU and got an email today saying I was approved....I am sooo excited.... this is my very first credit card!!

Can someone please tell me how everyone is getting a nfcu card, I mean all of y'all are not military I know.... Help a fellow credit building buddy out.... What's the secret....

There is no getting a card without being a member.

Luckily for me I am military so I was able to apply but I do believe that you have to be a member to apply you don't have to be military to become a member you just have to be affliated with the military:

Navy Federal's field of membership is determined by the National Credit Union Administration. If you fall under any of these categories, you're eligible to join:

All Department of Defense (DoD) uniformed personnel—Army, Marine Corps, Navy and Air Force retirees and annuitants

All United States Coast Guard personnel—including active duty, reservists, civilian employees, retirees and annuitants

All Department of Defense Reservists—Army, Marine Corps, Navy and Air Force retirees and annuitants

All Army and Air National Guard Personnel—civilian employees, retirees and annuitants

All Delayed Entry Program (DEP) Personnel

All DoD Officer Candidate programs—Midshipmen and cadets at the United States Naval Academy, United States Military Academy, United States Air Force Academy, United States Coast Guard Academy and the United States Merchant Marine Academy; Other Officer Programs*

U.S. government employees assigned to DoD installations (including Coast Guard)

All DoD civilian employees—including retirees and annuitants

DoD contractors assigned to U.S. Government installations

Family Members—including grandparents, parents, spouses, siblings, grandchildren, children (including adopted and stepchildren) and household members

I was surprised when I saw the limit I was assuming I would be approved for $1k like most others.

You can try USAA also. They are not a CU but non military can get a bank account and be a partial member. There are a few CC that a partial member can get.

Can someone show me how my grandfather fought in Germany in the 1940s..... Can I qualify based on him, my aunt was stationed in Frankfurt Germany in the late 80s and most of the 90s, my deceased uncle fought in Vietnam, will any of these help me become a member????? If so what is my first step? Thanks again you guys

Is USAA the same as NFCU? Also if not are they as easy to get credit with as NFCU....thanks again

I am devising an elaborate plan in order to get myself into the NFCU. I only have to make 2 other people join before me lol.
