A collection is a collection is a collection!!! If it says collection on your CR, deleting it will do nothing but increase your score. Depending on the age of the account will determine how much. If memory serves from what I've learned here, collections are NOT factored into your AAoA so don't worry about having it deleted. Nothing but good will come of it.

I truly apologize for asking, but I feel like i've read almost half of the 257K posts in the "rebuilding you credit" section and STILL do not understand :-/

Here is my dilemma. I have written multiple GW letters to Cap1 and Bank of America and they have all called me back with the same response, "...Because of the FCRA, we are unable to remove any delinquencies. I am sorry." I have written about 3 letters to each and a different person contacted me every time to tell me nothing can be done.

I do not understand why they tell me they can't do anything when OBVIOUSLY many people on here were able to have negatives removed. By law they have to report accurately.. but they can remove any reported negatives without reporting "inaccurately", right?? How were they able to do it for others but not for me?

I have negatives from 2012 because I left for the Marine Corps and after bootcamp, MCT and MOS school I could not find a job for most of 2012 because I was enrolled full time in college (thank goodnes to my parents!) . So I ended up living off the money I made during training for as long as possible until I ended up broke and behind on all my cards. I got a job in November of last year when I graduated and I make good money now and just paid off all my accounts so I have $0 balance due on all my credit lines. I explained that to them in the GW letters but they all still gave me the same response...

I would like to call them back and try to get them to remove the negatives so I can get a reliable vehicle to make it to my unit because my reserve unit is over 300 miles away. I used to ride with a a friend of mine but his enlistment contract is up. It is very very important to get these negatives removed otherwise I can't get a vehicle and can not make it to drill. Not making it to drills can RUIN my miltary career!

I apologize again if this seems like a repetitive topic.. but I have read post after post and still haven't really found an answer...

Thanks in advance!!!

- Anthony

Hi Dirtbk80cc and welcome to the forums!!!! Under FCRA they are required to report correctly what the FCRA doesn't state is that they don't have to report at all. I would keep sending the GW's until it gets to someone else and or call them and explain your situation as you have. It takes one YES!!!! Good Luck!!!!

DaBears

Contact your CO. Perhaps He/she can assist you with some sort of help from the military......say, a letter or something to the creditors explaining the importance of this matter. Just a thought, don't know if it will do any good or not, but it never hurts to ask

Thanks!

here's another question... Would I ask them to remove the negatives? or do I ask them to adjust the negatives to positives? That's where I am confused... Since they don't HAVE TO report the history.. do I ask them to erase the entire history? I'm sorry.. I don't quite understand how the GW process works enough to even ask the right questions...

Does any of that make sense?

Thanks again!

Are the TL's still active or have they been CO? If they're CO then you need to ask for a complete deletion of the entire TL. If they're still active you need to ask for the negatives to be removed.

750orbust,

They all say "pays account as agreed" except for Cap1/Bestbuy... That one says Bad det/collection. It was sold to a collection agency but as soon as I found out, I paid it off through the collection agency. Would it be beneficial to delete that entire trade line? or leave it? I ask because I did have that credit line since 2005 and it's one of the oldest credit cards I had in my history.

FICO gods see a collection as a collection, whether PIF or not. The only thing that will lessen the impact on your score is the account getting older but you obviously don't have time to wait on that so bombard them with GW's until they can't stand seeing your name any longer. I would still suggest looking into what the military might be able to do to help you out. When I was in the N.G. I know that my CO was a really good guy and he actually personally picked up a couple of guys who didn't have transportation at the time. I'm not suggesting you ask your for a ride but maybe he/she can help influence the CA's decision if he/she can go to bat for you.

i just spoke with an Executive Customer Relations representative of Bank of America and all they keep telling me is that "noting can be removed or changed because they have to report everything accurately according to the FCRA." How do I talk to them into removing the negatives? What am I missing here? they say the CAN'T do that at all, but it has been done many of times. If it can be done, why do they keep telling me there is no way than can do it?

:'( I spoke with 9 different people alread and nothing... maybe I'm asking for the wrong thing?

any ideas?
