Conn's judgement

Back in 2007 I received notice that Conn's was filing judgement on me for an unpaid balance of approx $1200. I immediately panicked and called Conn's. We negotiated a settlement and I thought that was the end of that. Last year I pulled my credit with lendor and we saw that the judgement was there showing $1230 but that Conn's also reported a balance of $0 settled for less than full amount. Again, I thought that was how it was supposed to be and let it go. I have only recently found out that the judgement should have at least been modified to show paid. Now I want to see about having it removed. I called Conn's on Friday and of course they said they don't have records back that far. I have a friend that is an attorney and he gave me a release of judgement that Conn's will have to sign. I am wondering if it is worth it since they said they can't pull records from that far back. I still have a copy of my credit report from last year that shows paid for less than full amount. Should I send a copy of that with the request for them to sign the release of judgement?

In a heart beat. All they can say is no.

However, the TL is reporting inaccurately as settled and not paid in full so maybe you can use that to get them to sign. If you do it in a nice, unthreatening way lol.

Nevermind, just saw your link for the abbreviations.

I think the TL is showing correctly on last year's report because I did settle for less than full with Conn's. The thing is, Conn's is no longer on my credit report (at least TU and EQ) so I am thinking it may be harder to have them agree to sign it.

Their not reporting really has nothing to do with getting them to agree to have the judgment vacated. At least try it.

I guess I misread somewhere that you did settle. I remember another post and I thought it was incorrect. Sorry.
