How old is the C/O? Settling the debt may be your only option. What may come into play is how much do they want to settle on. Never hurts to ask.

I disputed a charge off

Instead of equifax validating the debt, they updated the payment history on something I havnt paid on in years.

81-Month Payment History

Year Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul

Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec

2013 * * * * *

2012 * * * * * * * * * * * *

2011 * * * * * * * * * * * *

2010 * * * * * * * * * * * *

2009 * * * * * * * * * * * *

2008 30 * * * 30 30 60 90 120 120 30 *

2007 * * * * 30 60 30

Payment History Key

That would be an OC issue and not the CRA. They only put on the reports what the OC tells them.

I guess I am confused, would the OC tell them I am making my payments?

I guess I would like to ask them their method of verification but I have done that before certified, and never heard back.

Like guiness stated, when you dispute an OC account, the CRA sends off a 2 digit code to verify the tradeline using e-oscar. The OC will respond to that code and can update their tradeline based on the dispute code. I learned the hard way once and lossed 21 points.

So basically its better to let older things fall off naturally if your not going to pay it, like a charge off. They keep updating it with ontime payments. I just jumped back up to 642 with equifax and with maxed out credit usage. I think I will just leave it alone and get my points by paying off my credit card debt.

Is it a paid or unpaid c/o? It's up to you if you let it fall off your reports. Me personally I can't live on a daily basis knowing I might have unpaid debt floating out there.
