Help! I don't know how to proceed...

My husband tried to help his parents by purchasing a house under his name in 2002/2003 because he was the one with good credit. Well it turns out they didn't pay the mortgage for about 4 months, he found out when he tried to purchase a car in 2004. So his parents refinanced the house and took his name out of the loan, now both mortgages show on the records the bad one and the new one which so far they have been on time with payments.

Now Im trying to clean up his CR a bit since we now want to purchase a house.

He has a few bad deaths there but I'm trying to take care of the small ones first.

My husband's credit report reads as follows

AFNI/Sprint (cell phone)

Date placed for collection: 12/2003

Estimated date that this item will be removed: 01/2009

Date verified: 08/2006

Can someone please tell me what are the first steps to get the Sprint and Mortgage information deleted from the CR?

Your help will be greatly appreciated

If going FHA - neither of these should be deal breakers. You need 2 years clean history -

The loan officer said the Sprint would matter, I'm also doing it to improve his credit score.

The cell phone bill is older than 2 years, can I have that deleted? Do I have to send a DV letter first?

They only way it is going to help is if you get a Pay for Delete.

But why is it still on the credit if its older than 2 years? It should have been deleted... I guess I need to read up on this.

The SOL is 2 years meaning after the 2 years they can't sue you

However the CRTP is still 7 to 7.5 years so it can stay on your report for that amount of time

Sorry bad humor I agree with everyone PFD I would even try 50% of the amount. But read up on this site you will find alot of info..
