Hi,

The CFPB requires that you file a dispute with the company that the complaint is concerning first.

I disputed inaccurate information with the Credit Bureaus that came back deleted in two Bureaus and verified in the third.

I had good proof that the information was inaccurate and filed a complaint with the CFPB against the Bureau that verified the item.

Please note, the complaint with the CFPB was filed after the dispute was submitted and the investigation was completed by the Credit Bureaus.

The CFPB reviewed my complaint and forwarded it the Credit Bureau that verified the item for a response.

In Ten days the Credit Bureau responded that the item was reinvestigated and deleted based on the information submitted to them from the CFPB complaint.

The CFPB can help in many instances.

Information about what issues the CFPB can assist with are listed on their website.

Depending on the issue, the CFPB may be a good choice for assistance.

The CFPB can help in many other areas other then credit reporting as I related to.

Hope this info on my case helps.

I would say the CFPB may be able to help depending on the issue.

With my credit reporting issue stated, the CFPB was able to help me.

I submitted a complaint to the CFPB regarding an incorrectly reporting NYS tax lien on July 2nd. They were ON THE JOB. They update you by email every step of the way. Yesterday I received a snail mail from Experian stating that persuant to my complaint, the tax lien is no longer reporting! Sure enough, it is GONE!! I checked Equifax and it is no longer reporting there either. Still waiting for Transunion, and they are the ones who made the mistake - they are reporting the same lien two times. State tax liens are one of the hardest things to get removed. They can stay on your report for 10 years, even if paid the day after they are filed. I did not dispute the lien itself, just that it was being reported twice. Got removed anyway.

I like their system, you can upload copies of any documents you have to support your position.

I submitted 3 complaints earlier this week. One was against a CA that received my DV via certified letter back in May and had not responded, even after 45 days. After I filed the CFPB complaint, they responded the next day! Still waiting on the other 2. Per CFPB, the agencies are compelled to respond within 14 days.
