Will CRA stop selling our info to zombie debt collectoers if we request it?

Is there an option out there to request of the CRA not to give out our credit standing to debt collectors. Opting out of pre-screenings is one thing thats doable, but can we have them cease furnishing our standing to old debt collectors??

I heard that Lifelock helps, it stops these CRA from providing your personal info. Thoughts?

They will contact the CRAs and ask your name be removed from mailing lists for preapproved offers, that is all I know they do,

That has nothing to do with CAs though.

If a party requests your credit report, they must provide the CRA with a statement of permissible purpose, which must be one or more of the purposes identified in FCRA 604.

If they have legitimate collection authority, that is a permissible purpose set forth in section 604. Thus, the CRA will provide them your credit report. Nothing illegal or improper.

The consumer can send the debt collector a cease communication letter under FDCPA 805(c), but that only extends to communications with the consumer.

A consumer cannot require a debt collector to cease their legitimate business activities unless they violate some provision of law or regulation.

There is no prohibition under the FCRA or FDCPA.

Perhaps your state has some relevant regulations.......?
