I was wondering if someone could tell me who or how I address Sallie Mae with a GW letter. How do I know who to send it to? I have a late fee on my account from 2008 I am hoping to have removed. Please and thank you!

Well after 8 GW emails and about 5 GW letters to Sallie Mae they said they will not respond to me anymore lol/ I called the customer advocate and asked for GW adjustments and she said No they will not due it if its correct. I spoke to the head of customer advocate department and she said they are required to report only 24 months of payment history after 24 months the furnish it. So she said if I wait for it to hit the 25 month and then dispute it, it will be removed because they will not have proper documentation of the lates. She asks me politely to leave them alone because theres nothing they can do for me, but she just gave me the heads up since my 24 months will be coming up in december. So I just wanted to share that information with everyone.

Thanks, this is good information. My student loan lates are right around 2 years old right now. They were all consolidated and I believe Sallie Mae now administers all of them. Does this mean that Sallie Mae will be handling the disputes from the other old accounts from Great Lakes, Dept of Ed. ect? Or is this only relevant to loans that originated with Sallie Mae?

Thanks

Jane_Eyre

Is your account still open? Was it charged-off? The reason I ask is because I have done the same thing of GW with no luck. These lates are from 2006 and 2007. I am wayyyy past 24 months...

that's VERY interesting information! so you would dispute with the CRA after 24 months? or directly with Sallie Mae?

she told me to dispute with the bureaus because if the bureaus do not get a respond within 30 days they delete. What I am going to do ( im not telling anyone to do this, this is just what I am going to do) I will dispute only the late payments on the account , stating that I never made a late payment then well see what happens from there.

Oh great info! Thanks for sharing, I just sent them a GW to remove two lates from 2009! I'm going to file a dispute to see if it will come off that way, otherwise I've heard pretty much what you said... Sallie Mae doesn't do any GW's!

I think this may not neccessarily be true.

Last year I disputed a Sallie Mae late from August of 2007 (which was when I thought my loans were in forbearance after a consolidation).

It came back from the CRA as confirmed. When I contacted Sallie Mae, they brought up ther records and gave me EXACT dates from when the consolidation took place, when the lates occurred and when the forbearance actually started.

Worth a try I suppose, but at least in my case they still had records from 6 years before.........

Sallie Mae has basically told me to QUIT sending letters. I think they are a little frustrated but so am I!! Even in their letter it says they are required to report for 24 months. The lates are from April 2012. I think that is over the 24 months. I have been disputing on the CRB's and one has dropped off. I'm going to keep trying it. They really don't like to GW - they are about as stubborn as Capital One. Had to tell who is more stubborn at this point.
