Another AFNI problem/ question

First post here. New to the credit rebuilding thing but I sure am glad I found this site. I have been rebuilding my credit for awhile and finally got over the 700 FICO. Well last week when I checked my credit karma I t dropped 50 points!! I was in total shock! I notice on their site that I had a collection for $218 from ANFI. I panicked. I found a letter I had got from them and had stuck it back in my junk mail. It was legitimate. I had a dish bill for that amount from when I got it disconnected after being a 10 year costomer (long story, poor service ect.). Being in panic mode I called dish and they said I would have to deal with ANFI. I called (I know wrong thing) if I had paid 20 days earlier they said wouldn’t have reported it. No luck at pay for delete. I paid it in full and they said they would report it to all 3 CB as such. My ignorance was I didn’t know it would still show as a negative!! Like I said glad I found this site. Is there anything I can do to get this removed ?? I have used your search engine and found a lot of post about AFNI, most are older post. Just wondering if anybody has had resent dealings with them. I am planning on refinancing my house this spring to get away from my subprime lender.

I've recently dealt with them(1/2014), they will GW delete. Did you mail the letter or e-mail them?

I got a settlement offer in the mail from them. The debt is legitimate and I accepted the offer. I mailed them a Cashier's Check for the settlement amount.

So how long should one wait before writing a G/W delete?

@vafia, they are pretty receptive to GW letters, so that is the right thing for you to do.

Call them and see if the payment's been processed. If so, I'd GW asap.

I just e-mailed them with a e-mail address I found on here. I think tomorrow I will snail mail also. Thanks for hope!

Thank you for your inquiry. We have filed a request with all 3 major credit reporting agencies to delete the listing by Afni from your credit report.

Can you PM the email address and your response as well please? I just settled (50%) on a debt with them (after unsucessful PFD attempt). I would like to GW them and hopefully it will be deleted off.

I sent a GW letter to AFNI via email and they refused. I am wondering if I should email someone higher up or start sending snail mail GW letters?

I think the only way to E-mail is through their web site now. I sent some to the address everyone here was using with no response. When I used the web site I got a response within 2 days. Just keep trying! Explain the hardship you were going through ect. ect. Short and simple. Also make sure they have received your payment.

This happened to me as well. I paid a settlement offer and sent GW letter soon after. This was their response:

Dear XXXXXX,

Afni thanks you for your payment. Accordingly, in the normal course of business, Afni will report that that we have received settlement in full of your account, and will report a $0 balance. This will reflect the accurate status of this account. We understand that you are seeking removal of this tradeline from your credit report; however, to remain in good standing with the credit reporting agencies, Afni’s policy is to furnish the accurate status only.

It seems they have taken a strong stance against removing the TL. I will keep GWing them. probably by snail mail. At this point it can't hurt!
