Wells Fargo Question

So I had the BF call WELLS FARGO and they say he had a CC with them (He says he didn't ) and they say they can't do anything because it was sold to Assurant? (Not sure of spelling) If this is the case unless Midland bought the debt from them. This is not being reported.. If he says he has no CC and never did what can we do.

If WF is reporting something in error they are still responsible for accurate records, I would simply dispute it at the CRA level as such.

Hey may not have had a CC from WF, but he might have had a CC that WF had bought out. For example, if he had a CC fro Wachovia, then WF bought them out, so WF owns the account and would have legal right to the debt.

They say they sold it to Assurant, but Midland is reporting. It is very common for CAs to buy, sell, trade, move accounts from one to the other. This is how information gets lost or skewed and why there are so many misreporting items on CRs.

He says the only CC he ever had was a Suntrust Card (This is showing as a CO) They say the account was opened in 09

Ok, Suntrust is still operating as itself and has not been absorbed by any other entity, therefore I would advise simple dispute with the CRA on the merits, it is also possible there may be ID theft involved here.
