Disputing late payments

Hello! This is my first post here, but I've been lurking/reading for sometime. I have learned so much from this site!

I recently aquired all 3 credit reports through the myfico website. I have a couple of late payments on a few cards from last year when we ran into finacial trouble. I was paying, just not enough to bring it up to date and they kept recycling my lates every month. I had no idea until I checked my credit score a few months later.

So now that I am starting my repair process, I online disputed the lates on one of my accounts and low and behold....a few hours later they were gone! I was shocked! Is this kind of thing common? Or did I just get lucky?

Sometimes this happens, the creditor most likely decided to give you a break if it only took a few hours to resolve this, if it had gone 30 days or more then such a thing would be attributed to the creditors failure to respond to the CRA on the dispute. Grats on getting a nice shot of GW without having to do too much work
