How to get a Chexsytems entry removed?

About 3-4 years ago I got into a pinch after loosing my job. After exploring all my options (car title loans, etc), I didn't want to pay the 300% rates loan sharks charged.

I was faced with either loosing electricity, or overdrawing my account. I chose the later, because I could always pay the negative balance and being without power isn't a very pleasant ordeal.

Well the bank only gave me a 3 week notice before turning me into collections. The collections department was really nice ( I rarely say that) and allowed me to pay a fraction of the balance each month, considering I was jobless ( I did get a job about a month later).

Time passed and the balance got paid.

Ever since, I have not been able to get an account with any bank that uses Chex. Right now I'm stuck with Bank of America, and I HATE them.

To rub salt into the wounds..I just got a letter in the mail informing me about Discover Card's uber cool checking account with no monthly fees, atm reimbursements, and 10c back with each bill payment and debt card swipe.

Well guess what? Shot down...due to Chex. This agitated me, so I sent the bank a very nice letter basically stating:

1. I've paid you (well, the collections department).

2. I would really like to have this entry removed, it's been several years, and I recently was unable to get an account with another bank due to this.

Got a reply basically saying "Thanks, but we do not remove Chexsystem entries".

Anyone got any advice? I know it will fall off in a year or two, but I would like to see it gone.

I was also denied a savings account with a local bank due to a US Bank checking account that my ex opened in my name. I paid the $60 balance off over 6 years ago, and my record is still on Chexsystems.

I sent Chexsystems and US Bank a letter requesting my derogatory record with Chexsystems be removed.

I received a letter from US Bank stating they notified Chexsystems that my account with them was paid in full. I also received a letter from Chexsystems stating that they do not remove records from their risk assessment system.

I hope someone has a better answer than mine.

Do Chexsystems show up on CRA's, or is is a seperate system. I have bank accounts that went to collections or were placed in chex system that I'd like to resolve as well.

Some banks/credit unions run a search in Chexsystems to determine risk for checking/savings accounts, and not credit reports.

The ChexSystems Consumer Score and scoring model may be different than the credit score used by a recipient of your consumer report. Because a credit score is merely a snapshot of a consumer report at the time the score was calculated, the score will change to reflect changes in the report. There are a wide variety of credit scores available and each creditor may use a different score, or may give more or less weight to the score they use in relation to other factors. ChexSystems Consumer Scores range from 100 to 899, with a higher score indicating a lower risk.

If you would like to obtain your ChexSystems Consumer Score, you will be charged a fee of $10.50. You must submit your request and payment by mail.

Chexsystems has nothing to do with Credit Bureaus. It is used only by banks for opening checking and saving accounts. Negative entries stay 5 years on Chexsystems.
Now how to remove entry. Call the bank and ask them if they can remove entry. Try GW letters to CEO or EO. Branch manager usually is a great help also.

You should go to bank and talk to branch manager. I know Chase and Wells Fargo give second chance. Banks are willing to open an account as long you don't have FRAUD ACTIVITY REPORT.

I would get my reports for free from https://www.consumerdebit.com/consumerinfo/us/es/freereport.htm and look at the dates to find out when the marks are coming off.

You can not get it removed if it was yours ( sorry ) It reports for 5 years

Actually if it is paid and it was not fraudulent activity report then it can be removed. GW and PFD works just fine to remove negative entries.

I've read a lot of people sending GW letters to get paid collections removed on CR's, I guess Chex is different?

Chexsystem reports your banking behavior..... I don't see that happening

Yes it's different. It reports your banking behavior.

I know what I'm talking about as it happened with me.
Chase removed entry.
When it is reported as Fraudulent activity then there is no way it will be removed especially by BOFA.
