AMEX GW FAIL ! "Sorry, we can't delete early" :-(

Hi, I just thought I'd share what just happened to me, even though people prefer hearing 'happy' stories...

I went the AMEX EO route after PIF'ing them on a charged off account from 2009 to try and get my old ugly tradeline deleted, as from what I could see a paid charge off is just as ugly as an unpaid charge off as far as the FICO scoring algorithm is concerned. The only thing that can improve is your UTL since the balance updates to 0.

The gentleman that I dealt with at EO was very cordial and professional. However, he called me back today and said that he really tried to go to bat for me, but that there was no way he could do an early delete of my old account. A little extra detail about my case - my charged off account was over 9K, and a few months ago AMEX's collection agency sent me a 50 cents on the dollar offer. At the time I took this as an opportunity to try and leverage my way back in good terms with AMEX - I called up the AMEX EO at the time and suggested to them that if they took the account back from the CA, I will pay them 100 cents on the dollar, despite the 50 cents on the dollar offer on the table. My whole intention with that was to get back in good terms with them, as they are probably one of the few (if not the only) lender that I actually really care to stay in good terms with for life. So I wired them the 9K, paid it off, then I waited one month and went the EO route and it was a spectacular failure. It's upsetting to me as I know that many people have had success GW'ing them, and I pointed it out - but the EO gentleman said that he has not seen many people get their tradelines deleted early at all in the years he's worked there, and he also said that lately AMEX is being super strict about this type of thing.

So either all the "GW AMEX Success" stories that I read here are all lucky and I'm unlucky, or there is just something I'm missing from this picture. I'm pretty bummed out - 9K was an expensive price to pay only to be left out in the cold like this with no new AMEX Card and perhaps more importantly with no GW delete activity.

Thoughts, opinions?

Never had to deal with a TL strike with Amex, but I can tell you about the Amex Oasis program...

My friend pay off amex and their trade lines got deleted within a year. It's happened to other folks too.

i would also try and get the oasis card.
