If you haven't already, I would start by getting your free annual reports. These reports will contain much more information than a report from a 3rd party pulled, like TrueCredit or myFICO.

You then need to look over them for anything that is inaccurate.

If you have CA reporting, try to match them up to an OC.

Look for DOFD, DOLA, and look up your SOL.

Read the stickies at the top of the board and the links in my signature.

Post back any particular questions you have about something on your report or how to handle it. The more information you provide(nothing personal like account numbers) the better we can answer your question.

Good luck!

Hi,

I really messed up on my credit, and it dates back to the year 2004. I gave up on making payments, because I couldn't afford it.

Well, now I am in a better position and the house I am in now, they are giving my husband and I first option buy. They are putting it on the market in 2010, when they finish doing a few things to it.

With my credit being so bad, is there anyway I am going to be able to get a loan to buy this house? How can I start fixing my credit and getting everything off my credit report?

If anyone can help, please do.

Thanks

You'd want to know where you stand with your score and then you can figure out what work you need to do to repair your credit. Next, I also recommend pulling each CR directly through the CRAs. If you haven't done so, try annualcreditreport.com and you can pull all 3 reports for free. Finally, once you decide to begin repair, I'd recommend subscribing to a CMS like TC so you can track your progress and it will alert you to any account changes, just ignore the scores and advice. When any major changes come (like a baddie falling off, etc.), then you could always pull a new FICO report from this site to track your score increase.

When beginning repair, I recommend posting in "Rebuilding Your Credit" and ask specific questions on each baddie. There will be plenty there who can help. They will ask of you your DOFD, debt type, SOL, how it is reporting, etc. SOL can be found here.

GL.

Edit to add....
