Newbie With Lots of Medical Collections Seeks Help

I have ALOT of medical collections I've been racking up over the years so I have just been ignoring the issue for a long, long time, not caring what my credit was. I havent looked at my credit report in at least 12 years. I have some crap kidneys so whatevs.

Now Im married with children (gasp), and we need to buy a house, hopefully in 2016.

So 19 days ago I pull up my free reports, join credit karma, and dispute all collections online with all three agencies. I started with a 514 score, now I have a 610. I have also since applied for a capital one secured mastercard (at score 549) and got approved, but waiting for card in mail. Also applied for a Merrick secured card (at score 584) but waiting for approval.

I have no credit cards showing on report. Only thing that is on there is an auto loan in very good standing, and tons of medical collections.

Im just looking for direction at this point. I was told to look into sending in hipaa letters? So I might try that?

Should I cancel the merrick card since my score jumped up some?

I want to really boost my score and I feel it's went up alot so far, and want to continue this trend. Im up 96 points in 19 days and have spent $0 getting there.

Don't cancel anything now, you need a couple of revolving accounts to get your score moving up.

Well, I havent gotten the card yet, either of them. I was just curious if i may be able to cancel without fees, and apply for a better card now.

also if anyone knows alot about getting medical off report please chime in.

and can a credit karma score of 610 be too far off a real fica model? thanks.

Though you may often see big gains quickly - this is NOT a fast process. Look at this as a minimum 2 year process.

Work on trying to get negative items removed. PFD the ones that are unpaid, and GW the paid items.

wasnt me, and i was covered by insurance. Both just randomly thrown out there. towards the end, i was entering more "wasn't me's"

I have lots of medical collections on my report, because i have some bad kidneys. This is why my credit is jacked. When I was a little younger, I had great credit. But when I turned 22, my health got worse and I was drowning in medical bills that I could never put a dent in. Medical collections are the only negatives on my report.

Let me first say, that I will do about anything to get my credit back.

That being said, Im looking for any HELPFUL advice that will help me wipe this off my report, so that I may move on and flourish with my life, and perhaps be eligible for some type of predatory home loan.

I am also in the process of moving, so if an address change (along with some underhanded stuff), would help further this cause, I have that going for me too. I also have next to no money to work with.

I have disputed all collections electronically on 10/26. Some have been removed. Some have been "re-aged".

Somebody messaged me and said I should "opt out", and assume another identity? Do I have to do all of that?

All you can do is either wait for them to age off or you can start a payment process. So none them will take a payment plan for delete?

Unfortunately, you're not going to find a solution to this other than what we already know to do with baddies. Contact the CAs, ask for goodwills, PFDs, etc. Otherwise, you'll have to just wait.

There is no easy magic pill for credit. I'm sorry.

I believe you've gotten several good suggestions.

There is seldom an easy or quick solution to multiple collections reporting.
