Yeah, sort of. I'm still early in my auto loan and would like to refinance to something better than 8% asap. I don't know how to word I was lazy and didn't pay my bills GW letter though.

Long story short in my younger days I didn't pay my bills. Defaulted student loan, 1 CC that I never payed, a medical bill or two. Anyway I've since then reverted my evil ways and pay stuff and pay it on time. Anyway I looked at my credit reports and my EQ is clean as a whistle, my CC and auto loan show no missed or late payments. But my TU and EX reports both show my student loan which I did settle the account but It's still on there. It's estimated to drop off of my TU report 07/2015 and my EX report 05/15.

Now my question is should I try sending a GW letter and getting them removed a bit early or just ride it out? I'd really like to graduate from my secured capital one card to a big boy credit card, and refinance my car to a better interest rate.

are you in a hurry for a score boost? i would just wait it out but then it never hurts to send a letter.

last i checked, it's really hard/rare to graduate a cap 1 to a unsecured card. i have one and just passed the 1 year mark, they wouldnt do it. they did raise my CLI to 650 from 250 in 5-6 statements.

Have you tried the Cap One Preapproval button? If you qualified for an 8% auto loan then your scores are not that bad - maybe not in the good range yet, but good enough for Cap One unsecured I would think.
