Congrats. IMHO you did the right thing by staying on top of this before it became a major issue. It also most likely helped that you had your account still active and in good standing when the request was made. Things would probably be a lot different for me now had I been more proactive with my creditors when my situation went south. It's much easier to maintain good credit than it is to fix it once it's been damaged. I learned that one the hard way. Again congrats on your success.

CapitalOne Goodwill Adjustment - Worked?

This is my first post in a long time, and I want to share with you my success with having a goodwill adjustment for a 30 day late from my credit report. Back in 2011 I was young and foolish about paying off my credit cards. I missed a payment - and didn't monitor my account diligently. It was my first credit card. I never realized the effect it could have on my score, until a year ago when I discovered this community. It was here that I heard about goodwill adjustments and so I thought I would give a try. I simply just called the customer service line saying that I was interested in looking into a late payment made back in March 2011. I wanted to see the statement to make sure everything was correct. She had found it after a few mintues on hold and then asked if it was possible to get the late payment forgiven after nearly four years of on time payments. I almost had a heart attack when she said she would process a goodwill adjustment for me and notify the credit beaureus. I intelligently also requested a goodwill adjustment confirmation which should be arriving in the mail in 7-10 buisness days. I think it worked and just need that letter to have my proof and then wait 60-90 days for it to show on the credit reports. Here's to crossing my fingers!
