Yes, that does seem to happen sometimes. Often they just delete old charge off tradelines entirely, but not all the time - sometimes they just remove all the derogs at the 7 year point.

I disputed an old HSBC charge-off (status of "Transferred, closed. $1066 written off" as of 3/2009) because it had a different fall-off date/DOFD as a corresponding collection from 1st Fund Inv. I had called EX on Monday because the HSBC account listed 9/2015 as the fall off date, but the collection had a fall off date of 5/2015. The HSBC account came back updated today and they removed ALL negative reporting (including all monthly history). It only shows CLS in 3/2009 now in the history and transferred to another lender as status. Before, the monthly history had a 150 late, 120 late, 90 late, 60 late and 30 late. ALL GONE. It is now showing in the "Accounts in Good Standing" section with the notation will continue on record until 2019. DID THIS JUST SOMEHOW BECOME A POSITIVE ACCOUNT??? I'm confused but happy!

Previous CR:

Current CR :

So if they removed the CO designators, is it not negative anymore?

EX says it will stay on for 4 more years now as a positive! EQ also updated, except it DID NOT go positive, but luckily is scheduled to fall off in June. Just odd how I now have a positive account from an unpaid CO.
