I have a judgment from October 2013 for 1271$. The plaintiff is Discover Bank. It was for a credit card I defaulted on and because I did not appear at court, the judgement was ruled against me. I would like to have it removed from my credit report and would like to know the best way to do this.

Also, should I expect a score increase if it is removed?

Thanks!

I'm doing the same thing. You will have to pay off the judgment, get a release satisfaction of judgment filed by the attorney/law firm that filed the lawsuit filed with the court and then check your state rules to see if you can have the judgment vacated due to it being paid off, then when the judgment is vacated you send the court order to the credit bureaus to have them remove it. Hope that helps. I'm sure others will chime in if I missed something. Good luck.

Before you can even entertain removing it from your CR its got to be paid and the satisfaction filed with the court. You need to check the states laws that the judgment was granted in to see what reasons one can vacate a judgment, if the state allows you to you would file a motion on grounds its been paid. If its granted by the judge its gone from your CRs.
