Neither. SOL is how long they can successfully sue you for a debt, so as long as you defend yourself in court if SOL expired. SOL means nothing to some CAs.

They can continue to try to collect beyond SOL via calls, letters, etc., they just can't sue and win.

They can also report past SOL due to the CRTP.

The SOL only means that is how long they can pursue you for the debt.....not how long they can report it...right? I am in Texas and it is 4 years across the board.

Thanks!

Stephanie

SOL has nothing at all to do with credit reporting, or attempts to continue collection of the debt. SOL also does not bar them from suing. It is simply an affirmative defense should they sue after its expiration.

They can continue to attempt collection beyond the SOL.

Their posts in your CR will remain until 7 1/2 years from the DOFD on the debt, and are unrelated to the SOL.

If you want to curtail their collection activities, the FDCPA is your tool. Since they posted to your CR, they must have sent you a dunning letter with fives days thereafter. If they did, then you have 30 days to DV them. ONce you DV them. they cannnot conduct any further collection activities until they adequately respond.
