My wife has two state tax liens on her CR for two different years. They are showing as not paid. Apparently she didn't file those two years. Last year she cleared this up and both were released and she got a refund check for both.

My questions is this: Can we dispute with the CRA? The amounts are wrong and they are showing as not resolved.

If not, should we send the release paperwork to them? Will the seven years start from when they receive it or from the release date on the paperwork?

I am inclined to try disputing first, if it doesn't work we can just send them the release papers later. If anyone has any thoughts, it would be appreciated. I searched around the forums and the web, but there is an amazing amount of contradicting information out there.

I know the 7 years start from the date paid.

If you dispute I think the only thing you could dispute would be that it is paid. I would call the tax auditors office for the county these were filed in a see what you can do.
