I paid a medical collection before I knew about this site. The CA (Meade and Associates) told me they would delete if paid. No, I did not get it in writing. They have left the name of dr, account #, but reported as NO STATUS. I have disputed with CRA's and they have only added the message "consumer disputes this item". This collection is being factored into the score. My problem is the DR. not longer has a practice here. I am not sure if he stopped practicing or moved to another town. What letter should I send and to whom?

Look up and follow the HIPPA process as it is posted on this site.

How long ago did you dispute this med collection?

it has been about 45 days. Can I still follow hipaa process even though I have already disputed with CRA. Does it make sense to send the pre-hipaa letter? I know about the account and I know I paid it over a year ago. I don't want to send a letter saying I don't know about it, that would be lying?????

Yes, you can use the HIPAA process, but I would wait another 45-50 days to begin it. We don't want you to be labeled as a frivilous disputer.
