So, I'm helping my best friend with her credit. She has a CO for a Verizon landline account. Does anyone have any expeirence or contact names and addresses forVerizon and PFD letters. It's a balance of only $89. I can't see them giving her a hard time of $89! Then again some companies can be rather heartless.

Seems like they reported two different ones on her CRs. Their website also has some good contact info, including fax numbers.

Verizon is difficult to deal with. I had tried for about a year to get them to PFD and no luck. You will get a lot of standard company responses (a copy of the pre-written company policy). They are not personal at all. And for $89, I doubt they will bend over backovers to try to help you out. Mine was for $59. Everybody's circumstance is different I suppose. Most people will tell you just keep sending PFD letters and maybe someone might be feeling pretty good that day and actually respond to you with good news. But be prepared to dig in and fight for awhile.

Message Edited by eknock007 on 12-12-2008 11:28 AM

I think we took the judgment the sheriff dropped off and tossed it. We didn't care. Take a number.

Now, er...um...we would own up and send PFD. Even after the judgment (which appeared briefly on CRs a couple yrs ago only to drop off later; actually appeared twice as a PR), Verizon kept the debt. That remained on her report until this past July and is over 5 yrs from DOFD. From this past January to July, we did consistently send PFDs offering 100% to a couple different addresses, all without any luck. We did get sporadic responses but they were all "No". It popped off after Verizon sold the CO to AFNI. There was a 3 month lag between the sale and when AFNI got it and during that period, we mailed the full balance to Verizon and thanked them for removing it.
