Hello All!!

So, I just got off the phone with the OC for my medical collection. The lady said I had 4 accounts all of which haven't been sent to collections. I told her I had one on my CR and she said it could be an individual doctor seeking payment. I have NEVER heard of a doctor seeking payment outside of the hospital.

Not sure how to handle this. Has anyone experienced this before?

Thanks!!

🍻Cheers to Credit repair 🍻

It is common practice for Drs to bill for their fees independant of the hospital, this is usually documented in the forms you sign before being treated.

Yes, if it was an ER visit they have doctors contracted to come in and work. As far as regular doctor's appointments at the hospital, I can't answer that.

I have never known this to happen. Being in an out of work and having to change insurance often I've been to the hospital a few times.

Not gonna lie...I don't read much when I'm in pain. So I def could have over looked something in the paper work. Can I send the CA on my CR a DV letter? Just so I can have proof of the debt.

The lady I spoke to said it COULD be...I'd rather it not be a could be.

This is standard practice in many hospitals, the docs bill separately from the hospital.

For unpaid medical debt that is reporting on your CR:

1. Call the OC and ask that they recall the collection in exchange for full payment
2. Send the reporting CA a PFD offer
3. Google the HIPAA Process and contact its creator for help

1. The hospital is listed as the OC, they said there isn't a bill for the amount of the one on my CR, so no recall there.

2. This would be fine if I knew for sure that this reporting is correct.

3. Something about HIPPA bothers me. Maybe it's the way it's website is setup. IDK but don't Think I want to go that route.
Ok...how should I handle this?

I looked at my reports and though one lists the hospital as the OC another lists something about the physicans. So I called about it. The lady told me she would call me back if she could find anything. Its been 24hrs and she hasn't called back. I call again today. I was told to call somewhere else that may have my records. I called they don't have my records. I called the hospital back. Was told to call ANOTHER number. I call. The lady I then spoke to gave me an account number that yes I do have a bill for, HOWEVER...the account number and bill amount are no where close to what's on my reports. Not sure if I should dispute or send a DV.

Any advice is always appreciated.

I'd call up the collection agency and just ask to be sent a copy of the Dr's bill. You don't have to say it's your debt, just that it's reporting on your CR and you'd like to see a copy of the Dr's bill before doing anything else. That's what I did at least.

I don't know if this is exactly a DV, but it's a fairly inoccent request and there's no reason you shouldn't have a copy of the bill detailing the interest and other fees they may have tacked on to make up the sum of what is reporting.
