Just checked my scores from all 3 CRA's and noticed my scores went up on all of them. After reviewing my credit report it looks like a collections acct w/ Portfolio Recovery dropped off my report within the last 10 days. They were on my list to send a GW letter to but haven't had a chance to send those out yet. It wasn't scheduled to drop off my report until 2020. Am I in the clear and done with this collections account or is there a chance it will pop back up on my report? (account was paid over a year ago)

Also, I noticed with Equifax that my score went from 605 to 613 but the score that is marked as the one used for mortgages dropped from 577 to 552. How could this be? The only change on my report was the removal of the collections account and this drop was within a 10 day timeframe.

If you know it's a valid debt of yours and can reasonably pay it, find the new owner of the debt would be best and pay them to not report. Maybe the original owners bought it back.

Portfolio has removed and put back on the same account pretty much every six months and updates monthly on my BFs reports- they're the worst, if you can go through the OC before it gets moved to another CA and get a PFD, I'd do that- don't forget to opt out now and make sure you've removed old addresses as well. We've disputed PRA repeatedly for how inaccurate their reporting is and it always comes back verified.

That does make a difference- it should stay gone. Make sure you keep a hard copy of the clean reports, in case it finds its way back so you can either dispute or file the proper complaints

Removal could easily be blamed on a mistake. Its a valid debt and can legally be reported for 7.5 years. Being gone (from your reports) for any length of time does not change that fact. The only time you would have a reasonable complaint in such cases if if the removal was due to an agreement by them - a PFD.

I agree with Norman.

The only restriction on reinsertion of information after its deletion is when the information was found, in a prior dispute, to be unverified.

In such situations, the information can still be reinserted provided the furnisher submits a certification of accuracy along with their reporting.

That restriction does not apply to your situation.

They can legitimately resinsert at any time, and there would be no disputable inaccuracy or non-comliance with the FCRA or FDCPA.

Unless their deletion was an admin snafu, it is likely that it was intentional to clear the boards of any future issues, and thus will not be reinserted.

However, reinsertion would not be improper.
