Who is Nco-Marlin and how do I contact them?

Hi folks...I'm a newb with credit repair and need some direction with a false collection..... I called Allegheny Power and they have no record of me even having an account with them! I googled and searched this board and can't get a good answer on who the bloody hell Nco-Marlin is!!! I called a company called Nco financial and some poor soul that obviously hates her job couldnt help me with the account number. She asked for my SS# and I wasn't about to just blab it to a company I have no clue about. When I asked her if the were Nco-Marlin she said no. I asked her if she worked for a collection agency and she said yes. I asked her if anybody else asks here questions like this and she stayed silent then said she couldnt help me. Anyway this is the cut and paste from my credit report....Any help would be appreciated greatly!!!!

Is there an address on the credit report for NCO marlin? If the address is from Horsham, PA..then its NCO financial. You'll want to send out a debt validation letter so they can remove your "never opend account with Allegheny" from your credit reports.

There is no address on the CR. Is it ok that I call them back give my SS#? Im guessing it can't really hurt anything.

NEVER TALK TO A COLLECTION AGENCY ON THE PHONE

get your real credit report from the CRA directly - then send a DV letter to the CA as listed on your real CR.

OK, I didnt call back (sorry for blood pressure spike :-). This brings me back to the original issue. No address on the CR, which I purchased here (myfico). Is there a "fuller" credit report I can get somewhere else?

Heres some irony for you....I live ten minutes from Horsham, PA! LOL

Haha ok great then, then I will go all-in with my chips that its NCO Financial. Send out the debt validation letter so they can delete your "never opened account with Allegheny" from your CR. If your positive you never had an account with Allegheny, then this should be a cut and dry case.

Yuppers, I called allegheny a few months back to ask them about it and the guy had no record or me. didnt get a letter though. I think I'll have allegheny send me a letter first. That way I can forward it to NCO and request deletion from my CR.

If they give me any more crap, I'll drive over there and shake my fist at the building!

if you want to develop your own process to deal with collector agencies, feel free to do so.

if you want to follow some advice from who has been there before you, you should get a real Credit Report directly from the credit bureau - the myfico reports do not report all information and some of what they report is masked. then DV CMRRR immediately both Marlin and NCO.

I'm with demed on this one. Pull the reports from the actual CRA and DV certified mail to both NCO and Marlin. Not only is this going to be the best route, but protection for you.
